usually its near the ignition coil or on the right side of the frame. youll have to take out the seat bucket to see where it is. once you do its very easy to notice.

well on way to find out is to get a tape measure and measure to outside diameter of the belt. that would be the easiest way. the other way would be just to order a 788-17-28 belt and hope it works, but in most cases of the 1e40qmb engine that belt would be the one that is likely to work. unless you have the short case engine, but most short case engines have 10" rims. and since yours has 12" rims i strongly suspect that the 788-17-28 belt would work for you.

here is the link where i buy my belts. linkthey are cheap and the shipping is pretty fast in most cases. and since they are cheap i usually buy 2 or 3 at a time so i have spares in case anything happens. the seller also sell most of the important replacement parts, like belts, pistons, cdi's, ignition coils, stators, intakes, roller weights and slider weights. they also sell some mild performance parts. their quality is rather good and they are very reasonably priced. i strongly suggest them.

I use 788-17-28 Bando belts on the stock CVT on my long and short case Chinese Minarellis. I won't buy anything but Bando in those, because I've had too many cheap belts break.

they are a bit longer, which allows for more belt travel. the longer belt allow for a lower takeoff ratio, and a higher top speed ratio. so better take off and a bit more topspeed.

Cool I'll go ahead and order that one that size. I'll get a bando since 90 knows his stuff. Do you know any other ways to get the variator off without a special tool? I have air tools

just use an impact wrench and the appropiate socket. just be carefull putting it back on with the impact. in somecases the threaded part of the crankshaft can snap off if too much torque is used with the impact.

The impact is great for removing the vari nut. If you're using it to put it back on, then you should use a torque limiter (torque stick). Something around 30-40 ft-lb.
