Hello again guys. So i have had a few post related to this subject. But i got a new carb today. Put it in. Fired right up. Had to turn idle up a bit. Took it around the block no problem. Get back shut it off and go inside. Come back out fired it up fires right back up. It started to back fire and make like a.coughing/ hissing noise from exhaust. It fires right back up but don't stay running. I reved it up and held it at the same throttle position and it was cutting out and died. Fire right back up,then same thing again. Could it be because my airbox is messed up? The tube right at the carb is all chomped up and maybe its not connected right? I dont understand how it can be fine then not??? Im about to call it quites with these scooters and sell it. Any help is appreciated

I've never personally experienced anything ahead of the carb causing such symptoms, however it could run lean if more air flow is allowed. Other than that, I'd simply be repeating my 2¢ from your other thread.
Is getting a pic of the damage out of the question?
Are you located anywhere near NW PA?

My first thought is maybe it is starving for fuel.
Do you run an on/off valve or a vacuum operated petcock?
Are all the connections (like the vent, vacuum barb) on the carb hooked up properly?

No its just a regular petcock. And i got the bike to stop cutting out by turning my air flow screw almost always out and i ride it full throttle and i go to let off and it kinda sounds like when you are riding at speed and shut your bike off and it like down revs and dies out. When i try to save it it coughs and like forces alot of air out of the exhaust. Also i have my idle set like almost too 1k rpm and it idles really low but when im riding and let off it hangs really bad like i have to grab both brakes hard hard to get it to stop but then it goes back to idle. Im about out of ideas with this thing.

Tried puttin air screw all way in and idle out and it won't run like that i have to have the air screw showing most of its threads to run.also like i said the idle is all the way in and it barley idles. I am soooo frustrated. If you guys wanna buy a scooter i got one for ya lol

Oh also just was looking at the carb. And noticed dew on it and the carb was cold. I was just running it for an hour and i have never seen that b4 with other carbs. What could be causing that?

screw all the way out is richest setting or leanest? if all the way out is richer then it sounds like you either have a vacuum leak or need a larger slow jet. just my 2 cents. it may not even be worth that.

I dont know which setting is which. All i know is the only way it will run is idle screw 2 turns out from all the way in and air screw like 2 or 3 turns in. I just ordered a new vacuum pet cock and hope that helps but i know i have the carb settings all messed up. But i have tuned all my other carbs from "scratch" and ran great.

If your not going to properly fix your airbox hose then your going to need to purchase some jets to tune properly and allow more fuel to the engine. If it runs better with the mixture screw out your richening the mixture. I bet if you partially covered the inlet of the carb it would run even better. 2¢

^^^^^ that's what I was trying to say.
I have used duct tape to restrict the mouth of a carb until I could get my hands on jets to do a proper tune. so order some jets and in the meantime grab the tape and get to work.

i also dont understand why the same size carb as the one before could be so differnt? i had two of the same one and from one too the other one didnt work??? so it must be something else right? and i might order a new airbox but cant find one with same length tube as mine and nooooo way it will fit up any closer

two identical carbs could have different jets in them. and if you use tape, just place a strip across the mouth of the completely open carb, or over the end of the snorkel. the idea is to make the intake hole smaller until you reach the point it will idle at the proper rpm with the af screw 1 and a half to 2 and a half turns out and no more.
you need more fuel which a bigger jet will provide, but until you have the jet you can restrict the air flow to get the proper air fuel ratio.
I should also add that even though its a new carb, there is a remote possibility that the idle jet is partially clogged.
I hope that makes sense
