Ok scooter was running great, no issues, got 1 block from home,it starts dying, missing. And quit. But it starts back up, almost every ignition part and fuel part on this bike is new, before I could kick it one time,it would start, now it won't start on kick start, but will electric start but now it takes cranking, before it would start instantly, it's not fuel,as the filter is full, and when I open the drain, fuel comes out of the bowl. Anyone got good initial baseline settings for the cvk carb? Mixture and needle? It's an 85 jet,and the same unknown pilot that came in the factory carb.

ok it looks to be running pig rich, this is after aprox 30 miles. I have the same 85 jet that came in the Keihin clone and the same unknown pilot jet, now in a genuine Keihin, it ran for 2000 miles on both of these with no issues, other then every rubber part in the clone failing. Every piece of the ignition is new, it would crank immediately by just bumping the start, or one kick , I'm thinking the carbon is tracking and shorting the plug. The issue is figuring out why it's running so rich. I have the idle mixture set 1 1/2 turns out.

Good photos, jeez that’s a really rich burn with an 85 jet. It just does look like something else is bad in your fuel delivery. Have you tried a different carb? Sorry I’ve lost track of what’ been done, checked or replaced.

I took a break to cook and eat a steak, I hope this is still apropos.

this carb only has about 200 miles on it, it's a brand new Keihin, it's not having issues at WOT just at low speed and off idle,I've been through the carb multiple times

brand new ignition pickup is dead. ran 20 seconds, shut off, and no pick up voltage out straight from the stator plug.

Considering all the issues chronicled in numerous threads . . perhaps some scooter variation of MSBP?

Considering all the issues chronicled in numerous threads . . perhaps some scooter variation of MSBP? naaa, just cheap ass china made parts, apparently a lot of these pickups fail, the Chinese tend to use very low quality copper in their electrical items, I unwound a little of the bad stator, and from my experience winding armatures in the past, it's terrible, you have to have some annealing in the wire, if it's too stiff of a material, it breaks due to vibration.

Go smalled jeg.. needle setting at top.. air fuel 1 1/2 out. Make damn Sure it's running lean at that point then find your middle ground!

this is the same jet out of the factory carb that it ran on for 2000 miles, I just swapped the carb, same size carb too, it seems to be an idle mixture issue, low speed issue, as far as WOT with this jet, I really need to go to an 86, I had the head off last night and it is a 50mm bore, so it's a 62 like I thought it was

19mm keihin, I will probably upgrade later, there were a number of manufacturers who were sending out these engines labeled as 50. As long as the data plate says 49 I'm happy. It's running now, new pickup open circuited so I swapped pickups and then discovered the cdi had failed, so I swapped the cdi and it started right up

I was running almost the same setup but a 20mm carb. Free flow modified stock exhaust and stock air box and was using a 92 jet. That's at 4500ft elevation! I would get a jet kit and get a bigger jet in that thing. What's your elevation?
