Don't seem like my scooter is going as fast as used to like 10 mph less..I know there are several things that could be wrong I replace the belt and variator less than 50 miles ago and just put a new carb on it because it bogged going up a slight Hill and I got that fixed..just wondering if the rear clutch might be the problem..when I put the new belt on it was really hard to compression the rear clutch to put the new belt on do you think that might be the problem it. It runs great no misses just won't go above 25 to 30 mph and I know it will.any info on what to check next would be great

Its pretty typical for a contra spring to be difficult to compress. I would start with a full inspection of the cvt. Belt, variator, rollers, clutch, torque driver etc.
Also, did you tune the carb? Or just put it in and go? When did your speed issues start compared to any changes you may have made?

Well I am not sure when the issue started I bought it with no belt and the variator was off it so I put a new variator on it.. I guess I did something wrong when I put the variator on the guy at my local scooter shop told me that when I put the variator on I put it together wrong I have one of the slide bushing not properly on.he told me it should slide on easy and when I put it together it was hard to put the back plate on so off it comes and new slide bushing installed

What bike? How many miles?
What kind/brand of new carb?
What variator? New rollers?
The belt will take a little bit of time to break in.

It's a 2015 vip future champion.i think the carb is a pjd19 metal top carb it has the same jets in as the original carb had in it and a cone air and new plug drove it for 10 miles around the city I live in and the plug looks normal I think it's in the CVT I am about to take the cvt apart today to see if I missed something..it's got a new coil cdi new plug

The variator is the stock one that came with the scooter and it has 9 and 11 gram weights in it I rebuilt the old one that was on it the weights were shot so I got a kit to rebuild it..I really don't know how it ran before I bought it but when my friend got in in 2016 it went faster than it does now I am just not satisfied and won't be until it is fixed...my son just ordered a polini variator and a new rear clutch and a gates belt.i just want a reliable scooter for my son..I thank everyone for their input

My apologies my original post says I put a new variator on my scooter I only rebuilt it because the only thing wrong was the weights were flat on a couple but I saw no wear inside where the rollers slide up and down and the top plate studs where in great shape it had over 4k on the variator so I rebuilt it I didn't check the rear clutch at that time because I didn't see any heat marks on the outside bell.i just thought the rear clutch was supposed to be stiff like my snowmobiles clutches but after some research I might be wrong the contra spring might be the problem also after 4k miles I am going replace the whole CVT drive system just to make sure everything is ok and working properly...I am trying to teach my son how to do the work himself..I know the engine is sold we did a compression test and it had like 120 psi and did a leak down test and it only lost like 3 percent over a 24 hr period so I know the motor is solid

If you're using a cone filter you might want to upjet it a little to account for the additional air flow. The CVT may just need the clutch regreased and fresh springs. Here are 2 good video telling you how to do it:
You said you have 2 different weights in the variator, did you alternate them so that the variator runs balanced? 9 and 11 sounds a little heavy for a 50cc engine. I run 11 in my 150 and it feels perfect. Keep us posted on how this goes for you.

The plug looks a little lean but not bad I ordered a jet kit and I plan on going up a size or 2 when it comes in the variator was my issue I didn't put the 3 bushings properly I plan on pulling the rear clutch and greasing it and new springs before I try the new rear clutch..my son ordered the racing variator and clutch which I don't think the motor can handle it with over 4k on the motor I am just unsure to put the racing parts on it maybe I am wrong or thinking wrong..
