So I can pick up this binateli scoot, PEPE 50, it is a 2 stroke that can hold a 16" wheel. Now is this a minarelli engine just longer? I was thinking of getting it and putting it on my Aprilia for the time being.

Well I bought it! And it has the minarelli engine. 1pe40qmb-4 Holds a 16 inch tire. It's a pizza cutter tire so I'll have to work on finding a wider rim and tire combo. Only a little more than a 1000 miles on the engine. It has no compression. Opened up the top end and saw that the head bolts have been overheated. The piston and rings didn't look that bad but the top third of the piston was blackish?? I hope i don't have to open up the case! If I do I have a nice engine for sale!!!

Mkay ,whatd you pay for it? 50 ,100? ? Don't you need a whole rebuild if you have no compression?

WTF! Who the fu€k are you? And no! Not a complete rebuild is necessary. Might just be rings, or maybe the cylinder Has a deep scratch, and I would hone it! Lots of variables, even more than what I'm aware of.

I just sorta fell into the 2 stroke world and its weird.Ive read a bunch about em but theyre tricky.I like dealing with tube amps and guitars.Ill be porting and polishing and tuning a 49cc 4 Stroke engine before I think of any 2t stuff.

Yes it's a Pepe, Benji your some kind of, well I'm not going to be that rude. All I did was a light hone, put it back together, and it started right up, with a couple adjustments to the carb! I haven't worked on many 2t scoots but I've got the basics down. Now I have to learn more about squish clearances, and the more technical or advanced ways to tune a 2t. I've got a stage 6 Mk1 kit I was going to put in the Aprilia, now I'm thinking I'll take this engine and put it in the Aprilia with the stage 6 kit. Oh, and Benji, go see if Timmy fell down a well and jump in after him!

Oh, the head bolts being overheated I would assume that the oil pump quit working, but with only 1400 miles on it I would think that was wrong! And I would ask on this forum what it means exactly!

I've overheated a lot of things, but never a head bolt. Does this one actually use bolts or does it have cylinder studs like every other Minarelli clone that I've seen? What told you that the bolts were overheated? Did you check ring end gaps? May be time for new rings. Any reason for the hone? None of that prob matters much though if it runs now and you'll be putting on a different cylinder.
