You can get clones of the MultiVar for about $50. This is one example, but I'm sure there are others. www.partsforscooters.com/169-140_minarelli_90cc_variatorI've used a handful of those and they work alright with a little effort. Kinda gotta dial in the drive boss length by using shims from what I've experienced if you want to get the most out of them. The Polini Hi-Speed is not a whole lot more and seems to get good reviews.

Thank you for your help! The Naraku I linked is around £40 here in the UK whereas the Polini Hi-Speed is around £55. The Hoca can't be bought over over here but I can buy it from the US for £35 and pay £15 to have it posted over here making it £50 overall. Which would you suggest as the best idea to buy?

For as much as I've messed with these engines, I've basically used 2 variators a lot... other than stock. The MultiVar clone and the actual OR MultiVar. Haven't really tried much else. I'd consider looking for clones that you can get closer to you perhaps. I know that HOCA and MRP both sold in the US and I think I've seen others, so I assume they must be out there under other names from Taiwan.

I wish I could just get a real Multivar but they seem impossible to find over here in a 16mm spec and only seem to show up in 13mm. Do you have any suggestions as to what I should search to try and find some Multivar clones?

I think I might go for the Hi-Speed then. Did you use the roller weights supplied with it or were they no good for your setup?

I think it came with 6.9g rollers and a blue spring the instructions are I ended up just using the variator and clutch springs.Polini make the hi speed, super speed, super speed evolution priced accordingly to your ambitions.I,m going to play with the CVT later I,ll keep you posted. geoff

I have come across two different kits for more or less the same price so am wondering which one would be best. I have attached screenshots of each. One seems to be the one you have with the contra spring whereas the other seems to swap that for another set of rollers.

Sorry for the late reply, mines the one with the blue spring I,ve still got the box polini part number 241.670.But I didn,t like the blue spring and use a stock one,Also of note I,ve gone back to a stock Yamaha belt and the result is stunning from a start, but it all depends on your set up so mix and match till your happy.

The Stage6 SportPRO Variator is worth a look at that price range too. Never used it myself. But know a lot of people really like them for the price.

It is probably ok. Be aware racing planet must be in a different solar system than us, shipping times can be VERY lengthy. I order from them as a last resort.
