My neighbor has been having a rough running hard to start then no start issue with his Ruckus. He's a great guy so I told him I would look at it. The intake valve was off by .05mm so I got anew shim, the intake was off by .01mm I let it stay. The gas was 6 months old and not premium so I dried the tank. Fuel filter was original 9 years old so I ordered a new one, the local Honda shop showed 2 but had none. I cleaned the carb, the pilot jet was clogged. Put it back together and still no start. I pulled the fuel line off and the pump wasn't pumping fuel. I pulled the fuel line off and put a bottle on the fuel intake and it started and ran fine. Revved up and all was good. Put the line from the pump on and I got it to idle but it wouldn't rev. Finally I pulled the pump and put the bottle on the intake end and turned the ignition on and this is what I got:
This seems a little lethargic to me.
Could any of you Ruckus guys let me know if this is normal before I buy my neighbor a new fuel pump.

The fuel pump was cheap enough so I bought a new one. I'll let you know how that works out.

GET fuel pumps are a weak link in the chain. But that one seems to be doing ok.
Check all of the lines for crimps and obstructions as well.
If you still have issues using the new fuel pump, you can test the delivery system: with the bottle hooked up, start the engine and let it run, while at the same time, let the new fuel pump run into a catch can. There’s a specific amount that it should pump (which I can’t recall at this moment).

I think I'll replace the fuel lines while I'm at it. 9 years is a good time to do it.

GET won’t even start w a bad fuel pump. That one looks fine. You replaced the fuel filter correct ?

I had put a new fuel filter in but not a OEM it was a straight one. That didn't help. I went ahead and replaced the fuel pump, filter, and hoses. It started right up and purrs very nicely. When I checked the oil level it was too full so I drained it and it was black. The gear oil is low so I ordered a syringe to drain it. Why no drain plug on Ruckus'?
