Off the subject but can someone link me to thread(s) about GY6/Ruckus builds without an extensive search??? Thanks... 49ccScoot.com, Builds section, The Camo Conspiracy, Ruckoholics - Fear of a black Ruckus, just to name a few.

^ woodsrat I have been trying very hard to keep my GY6 Ruck as "stock" as possible. The rear shock and the whole connection mechanism has not been as smooth going as one would think. It was toward the end of the season before I ended up getting this: www.scooterworks.com/NCY-Adjustable-Shock-Genuine-Scooters-GY6-P588.aspx?gclid=Cj0KCQiAuf7fBRD7ARIsACqb8w7iGGbk7uIhNOQqxFV4o8O-gP-jPWU7H0GGMLqi-saNR_WhhiKcE34aAuoYEALw_wcBI'm about 220lbs. I got a rack on the back of the bike, but really, I way outweigh anything I could put in the travel case. It would be nice if I had a dual-shock setup. The stock GY6 engine bushings are tweaked and need replaced. It'll be a few months before I get all of last riding season's corrections done now that winter is here, and wait for Spring to roll around so I can get out to really test out the new shock. Here's a pic with the old Forsa shock (red, eww!) Then the new NCY: What's that silver piece connecting the shock to the motor? And why? Genuinely curious, I could've used something like that on my Kymco engine swap.

It's sort of a long story that I have posted about on this forum a few times. Seems I may have an "older" model of the Composimo kit that has wrong wheel offset unless you run an 8" fatty. I am running 7". There are other misalignments that I won't get into here. To center the wheel, I cut off one of the tabs that connect to the Ruck frame then slid the engine bracket piece over by 1/2". This misaligns the shock and there is not enough play in the top mounting bracket to align it with the lower shock mount on the engine. So I went with butt joint, and needed the billet piece to provide the necessary stability. I was going to call Composimo but not sure what my stance is... it's not so much about the money, just want a solid bike, so what would I be asking for, a new kit to replace what I got? I dunno. It sure is causing grief tho.

Very clever way to get around that problem. Composimo will probably tell you to use an 8 inch wheel, if that was what the mount was designed for. I have not used any of their mounts, but they are 'supposed to be' good quality. My choice of mount has been Mojo Customs(bought 4 of them), they just work and his customer service is top notch.

I don't recall seeing any Ruckus clones with a fuel tank up high in the back. I've seen people use universal fuel tanks with custom mounts/brackets on various scoots. Stuff like the little kegs or a motorcycle tank sitting on a frame brace.
Is it just the vacuum pump required for a low tank that bugs you? If so, many work fine. Swapping to a Mikuni pump (if it doesn't already have one) would likely give you a reliable setup. They seem to be the go-to pump for most with low tanks.

If you relocate the gas tank, you will probably need to lengthen the fuel sender wires so the fuel gauge would still work. As for the tank, try ebay or a scooter junk yard, there should be something that could fit under the seat. Or ask a friend to weld you up a custom one. A gravity fed system should work.

Giant scale model aircraft fuel tanks may work also. They can be found in a variety of configurations.
A plain polyethylene gas can may also be tapped for a fuel petcock.
A fuel tank below the engine can be a pain but vacuum pumps work and so do electric low pressure pumps.

Also, they are just fabricators; they are builders and understand and how their different combinations will work on people’s bikes.

Thanks guys.the place Im thinking about getting the scooter at sells mostly icebear maddogs and they sell the mikuni fuel pumps.so when I get the scooter I'll see what kind of pump it has on it .if its not the mikuni pump I'll send for one so I guess I'll use the tank under the floor board.

The main problem with the vacuum pumps is they leak down and the fuel system loses 'prime' if the scoot sits for a few days. The vacuum pulses during starting are weak making it difficult to refill the fuel system. It is for that reason I use an electric pump to prime the system and for backup.
