Amsoil Dominator 50:1. Saber if you want to go thinner, down to 80:1.

Shit. I've used Walmart brand outboard oil. I should probably be buying better oil haha. Currently I'm running Castrol 2t injector oil for snowmobiles. Just a thought, but you do know they make two stroke oil for motorcycle and scooters right? pfffft.

I’m currently using Lucas semi-syn. because it was available locally. Plan on ordering Motul 800, or Redline. I always liked the smell of Klotz Benol in the jet-skis.

I had a leak at my base gasket so I’m going to try again. I found an Athena race cylinder kit (080000) on Amazon for $37 normally $200+ it’s the second good deal I’ve lucked into. 1. This one has the slot for the oring do I use anything on the head besides it?
2.What are y’alls recommendations for the base gasket and intake?

I have used the Lucas 2t oil from O'riely's because it was cheap and easily accessible. I didn't really care for it because it seemed to be leaving a lot of carbon deposits on my piston and head. I don't know if all that was due to the state of tune, and I was new to 2 strokes at that time. But after I seen all that carbon I never bought Lucas again. I use Motul 710 and/or Red Line racing oil. I have used both oils by themselves and I have also made a 50/50 blend. I like the smell and performance of the Red Line but it was kind of pricey but the shop I got Red Line oil from closed up shop, so now I use Motul 710. On all my set ups, I have always used the injector pump. 49cc to Big Bore (sport and mid-race), I adjusted the cable on the oil pump. On my 83cc block, upgraded to 94cc, I ran the injection pump that came with the block. Premix vs oil injection is really up to your own preference. I like the ease of gas-and-go.

I think I’ve finally got it right. It’s running and actually revs up good. I’ve got a couple questions. I’ve got a tach. 1. What should my idle rpm be? 2. How do I begin checking my jetting.

For idle, I’ve seen various things. On the low side, could be as low as won’t stall or maybe 1500. On the high side, nothing more than what would have your rear wheel move / spin while up in a center stand. For the jetting, it would be best to have a temp gauge but you can just try reading the plugs and watching out for bogging. I’m a newbie and just going through that and I needed a bunch of plugs bc of my sub-par methodology.

I f’d up good again...f’n new guy. With that temp ring and the cover back on the engine. I some how managed to cross thread the plug. It dropped a few shavings down into the cylinder which caused this

I’m thinking since I’ve got it apart again I might as well install an aftermarket crank. Is there much to splitting the case etc.?

How are the sides of the piston? This can be fine if the ring tracks are okay, and assuming all of those bits are smashed into the piston or head so they aren't floating around the case to cause more damage. Probly need a new head though if the threads are stripped.

What I usually think when I have a project that's going to hell is now that I have it apart what more can I add to the project to really fuck it over good?
Ya know? Is that just me?
Seriously, I'd fix what you got.

Swapping a crank can go really easy or really bad. Hammers are a no-no. Cranks bend very easily which will cause all sorts of issues. Hot-cold method works best but there is still room for error if it’s your first time. Read up on the tech section and ponder if you can handle it.
