Just throwing this out there...
It seems that I may have found a way to import new Minarelli long case engines from China. Is this something that there is still some interest in? They won't be super cheap, but they will be new.
Any thoughts?
Matt

Sadly there seems to be less and less interest in the Mina 2T's. I have even moved on from them in favor of the Honda vertical format.
I guess the price point will be the deciding factor for you.

The damn EPA killed the Chinese scoots with 2Ts and now we're stuck with bunches of 4Ts. We are active in our 2T area, but if you look at the other Chinese scooter boards the 2T talk is pretty much dead from what I've seen. Even here, lots of the Minarellis are now Yamahas and not many of them are bolting in Chinarellis. I think you could sell some, but probably not a great deal of them. I would be really happy if you could keep 45mm stroker cranks, 53-54mm BBKs, cases, and some gearbox parts around... but I know I'm a minority. Nearly everyone else just wants to build a 70 or some high end race setup. It's bad enough that I am trying to figure out what I actually want to ride on the street when I kill my last 90cc parts. Hopefully that's not right away, but it's seeming like it's only a matter of time before I can't easily or affordably obtain the parts to build them.

Well, I think they'd be a smidge more expensive than the current UP 4t engines... and somewhat less complete. We can get away with not buying many, so I think we're going to give it a shot and try to keep some of the 2t love alive. With a decent 70 kit a Chinese Minarelli clone makes for a pretty good street scoot engine. Matt

Which of the Chinese makes had the cases that were cut for 90cc jugs and cranks?

I think you can still move them with all the Ruk guys still looking for engine swaps. How are they coming in no heads on them ?

Honestly, I'm unsure how complete they'll be; if they will be a true short block or somewhere in between... y'know, because China. I won't have all of the details until they get here, and that's a few months out yet. Matt

Matt Matt i think if you make it easy for the Ruk guys like add a engine mount shock mount and adaptor for wiring or a Diagram on how to wire it they will move quicker than you think, advertise it as a easy peasy Ruk swap that anyone can do and it's complete or just the motor . I am not telling you how to operate your business by no means just saying i would target them cause that group is still looking for upgrades specifically San Jose Ca area and San Francisco even San Diego area because of all the meetup riders . I have a little experience in sales of scooters and parts not on your level but some ! lol

Our initial order is so low however that all of the work into making the above happen would eat the margin to zero. If the first order moves however, all of this could be on the table. Thank you for your insight, I appreciate it. Matt

How is this packaged? All but the top end or in parts assembled at home? Or is it the cases?

You can actually build a zuma motor from brand new parts pretty cheap. Cases aren't that bad, and almost everything else gets swapped for after market stuff.

This is true, but most shops that we sell to don't want to take the time to assemble an engine from the available parts supply, and since repair shops and dealers are the customers that keep us afloat, that's really who we're looking to target.
