I noticed the piston/rod appear to be "high end" shiney parts that are approved for a billion RPM,,If it was a 'stock' crank, then yep it was turned over 10,001 RPM and this happened...But how could a high zoot crank ever fail?

mmm, i dunno. Look inside the cases. Looks like maybe a mark from the crank wheel rubbing on it? Or maybe a broken rod.. I'm thinking broken rod forced the bore off the case, causing breakage/cracking, then it fell apart after disassembly/destruction with vice grips. Just my theory tho.

Someone experimenting with alternative fuels filled the gas tank with Diet Coke and the oil injection tank with a Mentos slurry and that was the result.
There's a gouge in the center of the cases, where the conrod would be, that's deep at the top. Not a big secret that the rod broke since we can see half of it attached to the piston. The rest of the inside of the crankcase looks surprisingly untouched to me though. I have had a case that cracked in the reed to boost port area. It ran, but that was of course a leak so it gave me a tuning headache till I found it. Maybe a flaw in the cases and then a rod failure lead to something really bad. Looks fishy to me as well though, so I'm on board with some sort of temper tantrum with a hammer or vise grips or whatever being a possibility post-fail.

You guys are right looks suspect! Lol. Maybe if you hydraulic the motor with fuel and a chane it fired it might do that but somebody would have lost a leg in the process.
The starter does not have the power to turn a hydrauliced motor over in a Scooter not at 12 volts anyway!
