I have a 2015 taotao new speed 50cc and installed a new variator with 5.5 sliders and a new belt but now the acceleration sucks. Still have the stock clutch and springs and was wondering if that's the cause of it. Only other mods are pod filter, 82 main jet, spark plug, performance CDI and coil. New exhaust will be in tomorrow

Try some lighter sliders.
Don't make more than ONE mod at a time.

Like Frank said: one change at a time. Otherwise you won’t be able to diagnose any issues. Right now, you have 7 different mods, and any one could be the cause.
Also, do the CDI last.

each one was done at different times, it was fine until i replaced the variator. when i got it there was already an aftermarket cdi so i replaced it with a new one when i got it.

So now you need to figure out if it’s the variator or the belt that is the issue. Maybe try the stock belt (as long as it’s not trashed).

the old belt was trashed and i was thinking that the next thing would either be lighter sliders or clutch springs, not sure yet. i have a new exhaust and carb coming in tomorrow so as soon as i get that issue resolved i'll be installing the new parts

Also important fact:
A new variator has to break in a bit. So it needs about 50-100 km. Best is stop ang go (full throttle episodes). So the variator has to move its full way.

Are you sure the sliders are installed correctly? It’s easy to put them in upside down. Not that I’d know anything about that :/

Lol yeah, and thanks for the input so far. I think I have an issue with the carb bc the fuel keeps blowing through the filter now so I'm going to replace it with the new one today an see if that fixes it. The new plug was black after about 10 miles and it did start to pick up a little better afeer stop and go riding so I guess the variator is breaking in. I'll get that straight and then decide which clutch springs to use after that.
