Hello Amazing People! , this is my second Thread here, i have an idea that came to my mind, and want to get some advice and experience about it , and how doable it is i do have a GY6 Maxi Scoot Size Scooter, its 150 cc GY6 , it has the same exact look of Xmax 250 - 400 Models, i also suspect that they have the same Chasis, now what i need to know and planning to do is to change the engine to a larger one, and here is the engines i am looking to retrofit in it 1- Honda Silver Wing Engine 600 cc 2- Yamaha Majesty Engine 400 cc 3- Xmax Engine 400 cc Can i do that?! , i am planning to get the help of an experienced motorcycle mechanic to do this job for me, but wanted to have any experience that you may have for such a thing, and what could go wrong doing that, P.S i do know that other things needs to be changed to make sure that everything will work perfectly like the 2 Front and rear tires and the size of them also, i also will change the shock absorbers to get stronger better ones with Brake Pistons and calibers here is some picture of my Scoot

A massive time heavy project. You will also need a machinist. Why? Where are you? That 'pit' in the second photo looks like a real fun place for dirt tricks and riding.

Hello There Jack , thanks alot for your response! well i know it makes zero sense haha , but let me explain and you will know exactly why i want to do it, i live in Jordan, here we have a system (actually a government rip off system) called customs, where they charge upto 100 - 150% of original vehicle price and this applies for Cars and motorcycles, also we cant import anything older than 5 Years of production, so basically i can never order a Silver Wing, even though if i do it would cost me almost double the price import it here with all taxes and customs, i am planning to travel on Road to Lebanon, i heard they have great mechanics there who are experts, especially in scooter - motorcycle field, and the prices are really cheap! i can get a silver wing engine for almost 700 USD , and here in my country i have a mechanic who can put 250 CC Linhai engine (Water Cooled) for me on January for 1100 USD , can you imagine! i mean i would have like a 600 CC Engine with all the labor and i wont even reach 1100 USD , so that really made me urge this upgrade. hope now it makes sense now coming to the location Yes, it is amazing i went riding there in a straight line of course with my scoot haha it kept turning off because of heavy shocks coming from the unpaved ground and so much pebbles but it was super fun , its not Fuel injection Regards

Makes sense. We have customs here also, not as bad as yours. We also have tech regulations which can be a problem, so be sure you won't get in some kind of problem with your modifications. In any case, Best wishes and good luck! Keep the site posted on progress!

It’s all going to depend on the motor mounts. The closer to what you have now (upper or lower), the easier it will be to engineer.
That said, if you look at the different mounts people use to modify Honda Ruckus engines, it might give you an idea of which direction to head.

Thank you for your reply jack! , for the tech regulations i dont have a problem about that, i can easily change the engine without facing any kind of issues on it, now coming to progress its still an idea, i will apply it when i travel to Lebanon soon or after couple of months, which brings a question in my mind, how reliable should my engine be GY6 150cc , to Travel 350 KM , will it be good to handle the trip and what kind of RPM i should be on most of the time so i make sure it wont overheat or anything?! And of course i will put full information about my Scoot upgrade when its done with pictures to help anyone here on the forum Regards

Thanks alot for the heads up about this! , actually and to be honest i will have my mechanic figure that out since he will be doing this thing with his good experience with motorcycles especially maxi scooters maintenance and upgrades, i am so excited for this to work out because it will save tons of money for me instead of buying a new maxi scooter which they are tremendously expensive where i live in a way that doesn't make sense Regards

Thanks for your comment, actually i would love to have something like that and since its a 2 stroke it would be cheaper for me to get , but the problem is 2 Strokes are not allowed in my country only for Off roading and i cant take them to street, so i am only limited to 4 Stroke Engines , i am mainly trying to get the Silverwing engine 600 CC fitted, if that works it would a be amazing! , if not i would go for 400 cc Yamaha Majesty engine, or xmax 400 cc Engine Regards

Sounds like fun regardless! I would go for the one that fits easiest! I must say, 600cc of nut tingling power would be quite fun. Enough to travel from...Where are you? Do it and come for a long trip....by land to Thailand.

Do it and come for a long trip....by land to Thailand. Yes it will be a great project, little pricey also , since i will be using a hand of professional mechanic to make sure things go in the right path especially that i am fitting a large engine, so i need to make sure its done correctly for safety! , i would be travelling to do it, but not yet decided, i have been in touch with a well known mechanic in other country, that i am willing to go visit and do this project , coming to Thailand is something AMAZING i went to Malaysia last year (not with motorcycle of course ) and i loved every bit of that place! , i really also want to visit Thailand ill do that soon! i live in Jordan which is Super far away Thanks a lot for your comments i appreciate them! Best Regards

You are welcome to come any time! Scooters, superscoots, off-road and big bikes are not real expensive to rent here. There are tour groups or do it yourself. Even cross border trips...Thai, Laos, Viet Nam.
Jordan to see Dead Sea, Petra, Amman is still active in our hearts. We made it to Egypt a year and a half ago, but ran out of time to go North.

Thanks a lot my friend for your kind welcoming words!! i appreciate it! , yes i know that about Thailand i guess its considered one of the 2 wheels dream lands! , things are cheap and got a big and large variety of brands to offer for such a market since the demand on it is high!, i really like the idea of cross border trips which i will most probably do due to the distance of taking my own scooter there which will be so far away trip and probably really expensive than hopping on an airplane get to Thailand and start my trip from there, you are also Super welcome here anytime you feel like it, consider you have a host here , Egypt is a nice place too! , hopefully you can sometime make the trip to come here, my plans next year if i do this mod to my scooter, (the 600CC Silverwing engine) is to travel to Turkey and maybe get to Europe if i can get a Visa for it, that would be an awesome trip Regards

Yes! That would be a great trip! I mapped out a route from here to Europe. Long, but very interesting. The hard part is getting past Pakistan , Afghanistan and Iran. I would bypass into Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Khazikstan...cross the Caspian...Dreams.
