if its stock thats pry about right with age for compression. iirc 125 is pretty normal for compression. some 2 strokes are as low as 8 something:1 or 9:1 if you dont see visible leaking i wouldnt pull the head off and put it back on as youll have a higher chance of a leak reusing the gasket.

Likely has that goof ball ringed combustion chamber with no squish band at all..Getting a proper squish head on there will be a good start for a better running engine...

Thinking about pulling the head and taking out the head gasket to raise compression, would have to measure thickness, have to watch the squish. NOt sure how thick a head gasket is.
Need to find someone with a good 50cc head laying around from a BBK upgrade they will put in the mail for the cost of shipping. Some of the ebay stuff is questionable. Don't want to spend a lot on the 50cc setup, would rather put that money towards something that would transfer to a 70cc setup.

If you go to a 70,then a matching 70 head must be used,not a 50cc head..

I will check my spare heads later today, not sure what I have in the 50cc size.
EDIT: now that I think about it, pretty sure I got rid of the 50cc stuff.

Just my luck, something will shows up, or I'll end up with a 70cc kit eventually. Experimenting with parts that will move to a 70cc, that way I'll have a better understanding of tuning when I put the 70cc kit together.

i have some parts bins with some old parts laying around. idk if any of it is worth anything anymore but ill do some looking too. i think i have 1 or 2 50cc "racing" kits when i didnt want to use a 70 kit and gave up on that life after switching jobs and half my customers were the cops in the area. they told me do it and nobody bothered me as i was out of the way of traffic and had a 50-50 chance of getting pulled over by the guy that i had his motor torn apart. i only got pulled over once cause the cop didnt think my bike was registered and he told me to change my tail light bulb cause he didnt like the color on the license plate. talk to the enforcement in the area and see if they really care most of the places ive lived they only care about a 70 kitted bike if your a kid as the laws are there so they dont do anything stupid at this point or for people who lost their license from drinking and driving as a way to demoralize and keep them from being able to hurt anyone else.

It would be great if you have something, a chance to experiment. Going to go and try to extend my Variator ramps and see what happens.

unless you can get them perfectly even i wouldnt bother. a good variator with a larger face is cheaper than a crankshaft and the tools to split the case bearings and seals. and i looked but dont have any old 50cc stuff. i thought i had 1 cylinder but i must have pitched it or gave it away. i do have an old stage6 racing single ring alu 70cc kit with some scuffing by the exhaust port but with a piston kit and gaskets it should still run and run pretty good i might add. www.scootertuning.ca/en/cylinders-sport-70cc-aluminium/1014-cylinder-kit-stage6-sport-pro-70cc-mkii-12mm.htmlits that guy

I guess it would depend on how much you wanted for the parts. I was looking at a sport kit in the $159.00 range. Looks like a piston alone is going to be $63.00 plus shipping.

ill never use again as its air cooled and im deff sticking with watercooling. i have 2 heads for it so u could try some things on one of them and still have a spare too. i will get pics when i get home tonite or tomorrow when i get back up i have to go load up a turck and trailer even though i really dont wanna the weather is pretty lame here right now. i may have a head gasket that fits it but idk if i have a cylinder base gasket thats new still. it may still have one thats stuck on it but not sure if its worth using. if you wanted it id ask 30 bux. 15 for cylinder 15 for shipping. and what kit are you looking at?

www.scootertuning.ca/en/cylinders-sport-70cc-cast-iron/1016-cylinder-kit-malossi-sport-70cc.htmlMalossi sport, something for street use, I use it as a grocery getter etc around a small town of 2000. I'm interested let me know if you can find it. Might rev a bit higher than I want but could be an interesting experiment I would never try otherwise. Do you still have the piston and it is shot? Or does a person have to get a piston and rings and not just a new ring? Are base baskets and head baskets pretty much generic except for thickness?
