I have been having trouble with the electronic indicator on my Cabo. I live on a dirt road and have been having trouble with it bogging out also. This is my only form of transportation. Have checked everything I can think of and no mechanics near me work on them. I've called the dealer I got it from but they have been no help either and I'm at my wits end. I have been trying to find a wiring diagram for this but have been unable to find one. I believe it's called a Crux in Europe but unable to find anything on that as well. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi,that's quite a new bike for the forum but we love a challenge, firstly is it a 125cc 4 stroke engine? when you say electronic indicator do mean the turn signal lamp if so which one ,and is it a bulb or an LED? The bogging you mention can you be clearer what you mean.have you been keeping up with servicing?.

Sorry, haven't been on lately. It's a 50cc 4 stroke engine and has been regularly maintained. I am referring to the digital speedometer, tach etc. It flickers off and back on at times. I have no one near me that works on these things so I'm kind of flying blind here. It seems to bog down at times, if I reduce the throttle it kind of catches up with itself and runs alright. Not terribly mechanically inclined but sounds like maybe it flooding out. I've tried adjusting the carb but it basically can only have the idle adjusted and as I've said I can't find anyone in my area that works on them 🤷♂️ Any help is appreciated, can post pics if needed

The mixture screw on most of the carbs is just blocked off with a bung. You can usually drill it out to get at the mixture screw underneath.

I would check the fuel flow to the carburetor. Disconnect the fuel line, with a container handy to catch the fuel flow. Operate the fuel shutoff valve, vacuum operated or manual. Watch the flow directed to the container. It should be full flow, the size of the inner diameter of the fuel line. Let it flow for several minutes. If there was a vent, outlet filter, fuel filter, or fuel line problem causing the engine to run out of fuel, it should indicate by a diminished flow from the fuel line. Have you checked your air cleaner? Dirt roads can get enough dust stirred up when dry to clog a filter in a short time, relatively, but definitely quicker than running on paved roads. If your instrument cluster seems to be turning on and off by itself, I would check the connetions, especially the one to battery power(likely switched ON/OFF by the ignition switch. A loose connection can cause intermittent problems. If no problem found, I'd get a meter and probe the 12V supplied from the battery on the wire that feeds the cluster, monitoring it for intermitent power. If it has solid power, and the cluster still vacillates, I think the cluster may have a bad solder joint or loose connection, which means, to me, taking the cluster out and removing its cover for inspection/repair. tom
Added: SYM are good, high quality machines. I think you should be able to find a schematic for your bike online. They seem to stand behind their product a lot more than mainland China manufacturers. They generally use parts that are a step or two up from the run of the milll chinabikes.

Thanks for the info, I've had an electrical problem before. Probably related to running the dirt road. That one drove me crazy for a while, have replaced the air filter. Will check the fuel flow and see what I find. Unfortunately don't really have the tools to do a lot of the work necessary and am looking for a mechanic in my area, but that's another story. Thanks again, I'll keep you guys posted

Do the bogging and the dash flickering coincide? Are they doing it at the same time?
Wonder if there isn’t enough crud built up in the stator to curse an issue.

No they do not, seems the dash flickering is a constant and the fuel issue? is kind of intermittent. Haven't really had a chance to work on it lately
