I rode 180 miles on the Zuma today, 3 fuel stops and 16oz of oil later I’m back. Next time I’ll remember the sunscreen. My right ear is ringing for some reason. Tons of Harley’s out today, a few dual sports and only one scooter.

Tons of Harley’s out today, a few dual sports and only one scooter. Very nice. Ear plugs are cheap enough to try. A lot of bikers swear by them. I got some when I got the TMAX because of the amount of wind that it pushes in your face at highway speeds, but I personally don't like them that much. When I did wear them, I didn't come home with dull hearing or ringing though, so they certainly seem to be the smart choice.

Swapped clutch and exhaust... Stella's current clutch was getting really noisy and "jerky" off the line, and I got my used Scorpion exhaust (75USD plus 12 bucks shipping) in today so I figured I could swap both out. First thing I find is the clutch hard to come off, and it looks like the woodruff key is sheared. Just the lock washer, all is good... Polini pipe off, compared to Scorpion I had the stock clutch from the spare engine just hanging out. Here's my DIY compression tool. Works great. All I had to do was swap the Polini upgear... that's when I found the loose gears: Take a look closely, you can see the gap in the rivet when the clutch is compressed: So I used some special tools And pounded the rivets back down Then reassembled. Took some off-and-on a few times to get the exhaust right but it is tight and I'm shocked to learn I can still carry my spare. So awesome! On the 2 mile ride home she was a bit quicker. Was able to shift into 3rd at 50mph when before was around 42-45. Hits the pipe a tad harder than the Polini pipe, right around 5000 for what I could see on my non backlit tach. No loss on low end (yay!) and I love the poppy sound over the box style sound the Polini has. The ported stock engine is a lil ripper, for sure (:

They help tremendously with rider concentration, especially when you exceed the terminal velocity of the human body. With the Ruck, I always wear for longer trips because the exhaust is so loud. They do cut down a lot of the wind noise as well. Full face helmet alone does not deaden the noise very well. Much less fatigue with plugs.

Since I'm not on call for work this week I tried to go on a nice relaxing ride but ended up getting tangled up with this yellow bumblebee Honda with the two young guys driving it which I will refer to as b****** from this point forward. They had the nozzles for the window washer pointed left and right, nowhere near the windshield. As they passed me they sprayed me. They barely got me and I let it go because what does it really matter. But I guess because I didn't address it they did it a second time and literally soaked me. Traffic soon stopped so I pulled in between them and the car that they were next to and calmly asked him to roll his window down. he wouldn't comply so I went off on him cursing and punched his window he sat there looking at me like what's your problem? traffic started moving so he took off and I followed closely behind. About a mile down the road he cut the corner and pulled over and so did I. Of course they didn't get out. I jumped off the scoot and put it on the center stand, took my helmet off and tried to entice them to come get some. They took off, which is a good thing because I would have stomped their a$$es or got my a$$ stomped, either way I would have felt better. Has anyone else experienced this happening? I have several times now. Don't these young people realize the evil that sometimes lurks in their "victims" Lol!

I gotta admit, when we were 16 a friend and I realized that we could aim the nozzles on his Dodge Colt outward and did so. Never sprayed a scooter. That was probably one of the more sane things that we did at that age.

I have had it happen a couple of times that were unintentional, where I was behind a person that was actually cleaning their windshield. And a couple times where it was clearly intentional, as it was yesterday. BTW, even a small amount of windshield washer fluid in the eyes stings like the dickens. Score one for the helmet yesterday, none of it got in my eyes despite me having the shield up 1 notch. I also wear glasses and I had the inner sun shade down so I am sure that helped keep it out of my eyes. I also did not punch the window that hard cause I know better, but my hand still hurts a bit this morning.

Me and a buddy did that on an old El Camino (I was 16) and were aiming for people walking on the street. Well, people = young women!

No not everybody did that, we were taught better................we used spray bottles

I have never done that. Been sprayed plenty of times following cars though. Most don't even realise what they are doing. If far better to get sprayed, than have lit cigarettes bounce off your helmet. Or land in your lap as your riding!

Speaking of spraying people on the street... Songkran Day in Thailand is a riot. Hop in a tuk tuk and go around the streets of Bangkok blasting everyone you can with a super-soaker. It's completely legit and expected of you! I got hit in the face with a glob of mud and shit got in my eye. Hot season as well, scantily clad women galore. I was with wifey, but man, it was a blast.

This guy apparently rode from Colorado to Washington D.C. My folks are up from FL visiting and ran into him. I wasn't there, but thought it was pretty cool... on a stock Ruck it looks like.
