Amazon for some reason canceled the muffler I ordered, which is good because I had second thoughts anyway, so an Emgo "shorty" is on the way from Dennis Kirk, flat black except for the chrome clamp and tip

It's only a 150 rack, retails for $500, I got it delivered and assembled for $220 with the manual. but it's a current model, documents are online too, as well as parts. As the previous owner stated, they bought it, and never used it. I've lrady gotten two days in on my schedule and feel great.

$300 worth of new plastic, new Emgo chrome megaphone exaust, new belt and a set of 19 gram Dr. Pulley sliders. The stock rollers are supposed to be 21, it was a toss up between 18 and 19, I figured 19 at worst would be close to OEM performance so we'll start with that. I went with chrome on the muffler rather than black thought it would be more retro stle, we'll see. now I just need to figure out how to build up another 1/4" on the pipe, the Emgo goes to 1 3/8", figure maybe a wrap or two of muffler wrap would be good.

Iowa is all about that salt, I lost leaf springs to it, floorboards and even an oil pan...

I am exactly your size and have a 50cc, but I agree with pinkscoot. A 50cc is illegal on the highway here. For highway use look for 200cc+ or you will get creamed. Nobody runs 55 on the highway, they run 65-75MPH here. KC is a river city so getting across the rivers is difficult if you can't run fast. There are only a few ways across the rivers and you would have to push your scoot or get arrested. My inlaws had seats at the speedway, last three years I went down, ny wife and splurged on the Wolf Lodge so we wouldn't have to drive from a motel in KC traffic, worst was when they had races and a game on the same weekend.

That cam belt is critical, even if it's a non-interference engine, if it snaps or slips your dead in the water.

Progressive charged me $75 a year for liability only on a 50cc scoot last year and and three times that for liability only on the 250cc, needless to say they'll be losing our auto to Nationwide shortly as well.

I started getting quotes for a new policy last week, cheapest has been Nationwide with my AMA discount at $115 a year for FULL coverage with a $500 deductible. Stays under $200 a year with a $100 deductible. I'll have a better policy on my scoot than my Jeep.
