I modified my Hoca vari (heavily) to get full travel and also good takeoff.. I added spacers to the boss for good takeoff and I also filed the faces so it can close together tightly and get the belt all the way to the edge. I call it a "mini overrange" I got the idea from Brent's article in the tech section. Let's hope it holds! I seriously like the idea, I just worry about the modded parts breaking under the stress/time.

Ill have to think about that mod. I'd hate to break my new var.

I would be worried about the extensions flying off and destroying things. Consider the centrifugal force when that vari is spinning at 10k. I will say it looks sturdy and "should" hold. If you had access to an aluminum welder to weld those extensions on would be best then grind down and smooth out. I need to do some vari tuning myself. I switched to the hoca vari everything else stock in trans and I have hit 65mph. I am not at the edge of the vari yet and think I can get to 70. But I also have 8:1 gear ratio!

What the hell do you have it on and what have you modified to get that speed? Oh, gear ratio...Yeah I'm way behind on that.

I've been running this vari on my 90cc for quite some time now... 60+ mph speeds... I've got at least 1000 miles on it by now. It holds up to daily driver abuse and lots of torque. I'd say it's passed the test.

I know I can hit 70, I dont know what my goal is but I do want to run the 1/8th so I would assume I need to be around 75 mph to get in the 8s

I would assume close to 1.6? I had a car that ran low 8s and it would beat m ustangs (and ls1 on juice) it has a lot to do with traction and launch ect. I was running a 4 cylinder air cooled vw. Cant wait to do it on a scoot! Will really piss some people off!

I've been following your jog thread- dang sweet scoots! thanks man, plan on building one then the other for my kid/ wife. The 70 is quick but just doesn't have the grunt of the 90. Big difference! I would estimate it cost $700 to build the 90 from scratch. Bought polaris case bouggt 43.5mm stroke stuffer crank and did some work to the stock cylinder. I think if people dont have parts and plan on doing a 70 build you mind as well go big. There is a huge difference in power and u can do it for about the same price. You have to fab the back brake bracket but I have seen people do that without a welder. I have a technigas pipe which isnt the best but it runs hard on the 90/24 mm carb
