Just curious. I've heard mixed results about the 250s. Most of what I've heard of with GPS says right around 100MPH max with average to light riders. On the stock gauges it seems many report 110-115MPH. Just wondering if it has the power to go any faster with the new gears or not.

The new gears actually should give me a higher top speed, seeing they lower my RPMs at any given speed. With stock gearing on a 94, top speed should be around 120. With my gearing it should be maybe 127 to 130. Keep in mind that's at 15,500 RPMs though. I don't plan on ever having the tach past about 10 grand. But one thing I do know is that I can hit 50mph at 10 grand in 3rd gear

Seriously though, ride safe. I respect the ability to not be an idiot and push everything. lol

I road a 01 i think it was? It hit 115-120 on the speedo. I dont remember what RPM. I do know i redlined ever gear to get it there . And i know it was over 100 indicated. I was pretty impressed with a smaller engine. I smiled and was like, "heeya , Ninja powa " Yeah, dont let me ride it Ben . Itl hit that over 10grand thing for sure by accident . By safe bro. Sounds like shes holding up well

After a few hundred miles you will be very happy for the lower RPMs.
On the V handle bar vibration is a bit of an issue. How are yours at speed?

After about 7000, the vibration is enough to make the throttle EXTREMELY easy to move around. I may order a set of heavier bar ends for it simply because of that. I have a set, but they're a different style and don't fit.

Theres been a change of plans for the date. I have a wedding anniversary that I need to be at on August 20th, but I was planning on leaving this coming Monday. (The 15th) so I guess I'm going to have to stay an extra 5 days and leave on the 21st instead. I've got everything 100% packed and ready to go, though.

Safe travels, and you make sure you come on here this winter and tell us how warm you are in January compared to your fellow Wisconsinites

Safe travels, and you make sure you come on here this winter and tell us how warm you are in January compared to your fellow Wisconsinites I don't plan on staying quite yet. This is more of a trip to see if I like it or not. I'll be back eventually, if I stop having fun or run out of money  I calculated it out, and I should theoretically be able to ride 400 miles a day, for a month straight, and I'd spend under $450 on gas. That's awesome

After spending a bit trying to find a way around Chicago, I managed to find a route that's nearly a straight shot south, and a straight shot east into Lafayette ;D Hwy 45 to Hwy 52 would take me directly there, and avoid Chicago AND tolls entirely. It's going to add on another hour+ to the trip, but I would think merely Chicago alone would add that on anyhow So I'll just leave at 7 AM instead of 8 AM and still be at Roberts house for lunch :thumb:

Ohhh, ide suggest that route over 65 any day on a bike. Good call! 52 is pretty flat long boring stretch but never has any traffic to speak of...Be a nice ride on your bike.

Well I put one more investment into my trip. I'm officially done and set to go next weekend. I bought a inflatable riding jacket. It uses a tethering system that pops open a CO2 cartridge, and inflates the whole jacket to protect you from impact. I figured that might be worth it, over the top of my armored mesh. Here's a video of it in action. Though, the inflate time is lagged in the video. It actually inflates in less than half a second. (I know, I tested it before I bought it)
