Good evening from northwest Missouri. I recently bought my first scooter. It is also my first ride with 2 wheels and a motor. And I am loving it. It's so fun to scoot (pun intended) around town. If I only worked closer to home so I could dd it. Anyway as with anything new, I started looking for forums to learn more from liked minded people. I kept winding up here so I thought I may as well join. As for my scoot. I bought an 06 yamaha vino 50. It has just shy of 7k on it. A student wanted to get rid of it so I picked it up for $250. I brought her home, cleaned her up and named her Lola. Here is a pic of when I got it. Here she is after a wash and a diy seat cover Im not sure what I will do to it next. I know a new seat cover, new lights and a paint job are in the near future.

Welcome! That's a great deal on a great scooter you got! Let me know if you come across any '04 or older Vinos for sale.

Thanks for the welcomes. I do think I got a pretty good deal for a running scoot, especially a yamaha, when the kid told me he wanted to sell a scooter for $250 I figured it would be a chinese one that barely ran. I was wrong, he brought it in and it started on the second kick. (battery was fried)
I realized that in my first post I didn't really say much about myself. I am an agriculture teacher in southwest Iowa. I live in northwest Missouri. (30 mile of 2 lane hilly hwy not 49cc friendly) I started my grad program this summer and planning on being a school counselor within the next two years. I am new to the 2 wheel world but I grew up on a farm working on atvs, mowers, and whatever else broke. That made me pretty mechanically incline.
I love tinkering on stuff and have found a new love with scooters. My wife is probably going to kill me once I collect a few. If you look closely at my second picture there is an xr200 that I am rebuilding at the moment. I was going to make it street legal but may just fix it and trade it for another scoot.

Welcome: Your Garage is way too neat.
Needs broken scooter's & parts strewn all over. Personally I use the gravity sorting method. If it floats to the top. It obviously is worth keeping. The stuff waiting near the floor is Vintage Parts. And like a fine Vintage Wine need to be not disturbed till its time has come.
I Bet 2TDave, is seeing a sleeper too.

Sounds like my garage lol so much crap you have to be careful where you step. Tractor tools boxes 3 scooters one motorcycle a truck cab car engines scooter parts everywhere all the cars and trucks are outside with 3 more scooters and the extra bikes and car parts over flowed into the 48x65 barn and another 14x30 shed and I've got 2 20x20 carports and a 12x18 shed to put up yet. Never have enough room and the wife hates the parts i got stored in the house lol Sent from my SPH-L720 using proboards

I'm seeing a sleeper also. Is that the 2t or 4t version? I don't remember what the split was. On a plus side the 4t Yamaha is top mount like the 2t so a transplant would be easy (are you listening Dave? Adds some more transplant options)

Yamaha put the rad overflow where the 2t oil originally was. Since it had 05 on the sticker I thought it was 2t and the "oil reservoir" was low so I dumped oil in. Then I was checking it over more and found the rad. I had to tear half the bike apart to get the reservoir out to clean it. Dummy me. As for the clean garage. First off I'm a shop teacher so I like a clean shop. Also I have to fit a minivan, trailblazer, large riding mower, scooter and dirt bike in a 24x24 garage. When the doors close at the end of the day it is stuffed.

Oh I really like the sleeper idea. That would be a blast. Plus the cops around here watch close for scoots over 49cc so the more stock look the better.

Oh the possibilities are endless lol 2t 49cc shortcase, 90cc shortcase 2t atv motor. Zuma 49cc 2t adly 50 or 90cc atv motor or a longcase clone in 49 or 90.
A zip could give you a shortcase 49cc with the small aluminum 10 inch wheels and disc front. You could hog that out to 103cc.
The Zuma and adly are longer and use bigger wheels but the Zuma has a big drum. The adly atv (not sure about the scooter version) has a weird axel but normal scooter and atv gears fit and then any clone wheels fit big or small.
The long case stuff is longer and may require some body mods.
Zip wheels and forks with a Polaris 90 atv motor would make a kick ass ride
