Brent has a mod for the air box bro, believe me I used it when money was tight so my scoot would run right, maybe $6 in material from home depot and you can mod the stock box too fit the bigger carb mouth!!!

I don't think the airbox would fit even if I could attach the end of it.
I did another run today starting off where I left. (into wind/with wind) (going from richest to leanest)
41.5/44.5 42.5/44.5 40.5/44.5 42.5/44.75 42.75/45.25
I think the few middle runs were invalid because of huge wind gusts, but the point is I could see an improvement the entire time. So that leaves me with leaving the free flow filter uncovered as that gives me the best performance it appears. I also said in the previous post that the screw was almost all the way turned it, but it turns out it had 2 more turns in it, enough for it to become rich again so I have properly tuned the idle now. Looks like everything is good from what I can tell.
Was going to check the tire pressure as maybe there was a slight leak or they have gotten a little flat but the gauge I have broke so will have to wait to go get another before I do that.

Yeah, today is an absolute day for tuning, believe me. We have a steady breeze that is enough to bog my fat down in it and every so often a nice gust that tells you to GTFO the bike lol. But still, I'm happy with my results today too. I'm so close to 45 stock on my 4t that it makes me wonder how that thing will be with the BBK and a de-restricted CDI. I just need to find out which danm wire to cut. I already bought the jet kit for it today.

I just remembered to check tire pressure and filled to spec. Now I'm getting 44mph into the wind and strangely 43mph going with the wind.
I remember before it would hit 45-46mph at 7600 rpm but now it seems it hits it at 8000-8100 rpm. Opened CVT cover and can't figure out why. What are the symptoms of bad/low gear oil? wondering if I should change it out.
EDIT: checked gear oil by removing inlet bolt. Saw it inside and it looks fine.
Also checked belt and it is to spec. It's not riding as high as it was before though. Could it be the wind is pushing against the scooter causing it to rev higher, as if it was on a hill, and losing some top end because of the new gearing? (this happens into and with the wind).

Also your weights could be getting flat spots or your torque spring is getting wore out,the r50x has taller gears so that's a plus!!!

I've only put 250 miles on it so far and it doesn't even have 1000 total miles yet. It got to the highest gear in my last known good tuning before I changed oil so I'm wondering what changed. I still don't have an impact wrench so there'd be noway to check either of those.

I still don't have an impact wrench so there'd be noway to check either of those. FYI. I just did this today. I needed an impact to get my stock variator off of my M1. Well the impact actually wasn't enough. Luckily I had a propane torch handy, I had to heat the nut up a little before it would crack loose. If you do this, be careful not to melt the fan or cook anything else. It only took a few seconds of a low flame to influence it. Then two cracks with the impact and I was free to go. But yes, get to that as quick as you can and check for flat spots. Or maybe your engine finally broke in and your weights aren't right for the torque/rpm combo it's putting out? Possible, I don't know. I'm just guessing. I'm still green here so don't listen to me.

Well I think I'm finished with performance parts and tuning sadly. It already revs right in the powerband so no rollers needed. Already have a pipe. And the only options I have for BBK will only get me to 62cc and cost $100+ Or 64cc for $150+ it's just not worth it. Gears are already as big as they will get, doing around 52mph gps @ 9,000 RPM.
I do hope I can buy more scooters and fix them up in the future though, once my housing arrangement allows for more vehicles.

52 mph on a 50cc is doing good! I think that is about as much as you can ask for unless you can find a way to get some more rpms out of it but I dont think it would be worth it.

I should point out it's doing more like 50mph at a bit under 9000. I just used 52@9000 to show that the gear ratio was already pretty big.

Just an update. I got a refund for the mirrors I had ordered and never came and went ahead and ordered some other ones from the states, should be here by mon/tues. They are a different style and more aerodynamic.
Once the mirrors get here I will do a biiiig update post with loooots of pictures. I've also been wanting to tune jets and rollers but I think imma try a DIY route first: drilling the jet from the old carb myself to get an idea of what jets I need to order. and dremeling weight off of current rollers to also get an idea of what rollers I need. Best case I use what I made myself. Worst case I order new rollers and jets for the same anyways.

Went out with the air filter covered partially by tape and did max speed runs. Each run I did I took off a piece of tape. The top speed went consistently up from 45, 46, 47, 48. Using sense it would seem that I am on the rich side of a perfect tune (and probably very close) would you agree?
Also I took off the kick starter because it kept rattling every time I went around corners and drove me nuts.

see on the r50x with longer gears, 55mph is around 9100-9200 RPM. Got my mirrors today, here come the pictures. Here's some overall pictures of the scooter. Brake levers shortened, painted black and clear coated to protect the paint. Rockstar motocross grips the mirrors I got, mirror arms painted black with gloss clear coat. they've got carbon fiber backs to the mirrors themselves both these pieces were painted matte black with a gloss clear coat the job I did on connecting the speedo sensor this grill piece was painted matte black the little silver plate with scooter manufact info on it was painted black floorboards were painted black and clear coated along with the screws holding them in battery cover was painted black and clear coated These sides things were 'enlarged' to cover the whole area and painted black, kind of sloppy on one side. the tail piece was changed from a plastic-y grey-black to black with gloss clear coat kick starter removed because it makes an annoying noise air filter back painted matte black Also not pictured, I removed the external turn signals and am using the internal ones. So we go from this: To this:
