The hole/dimple in the crown is there from production. I'm assuming you measured ring gaps installed? You have to remove the rings and install them into the cylinder to check end gap with a feeler gauge. You'd need a service manual spec (service limit) to check used rings. correct, I measured installed, and I should have done it on top of the piston in the cylinder like you showed. I still think they were out of spec, because they rotated freely and were not held in place by the little "nib" in the ring land. Also I inspected the wrist bearing and it looks to be in perfect shape, not a flaw on it.

If anything is wrong with the locator you don't want to use the piston/rings. The last thing you need is for a ring to move and catch in a port. That said, you can't really just move the rings around in the open and assume they won't stay when installed.

I just ordered the 70cc cylinder kit so it should be here soon. And I think I understand what you are saying.

In the Service manual it says 3.6mm and both of them are above that at 4.5mm and 5mm. How could they get so worn with just 1000 miles.... good thing I've got a 70cc kit coming

Ordered a Jet Kit from partsforscooters since free fedex shipping What Jet would you recommend starting with for a 70cc with tuned pipe and free flow air filter?

That's exactly the setup I'm tuning right now-waiting on jets... ATM my biggest jet is a 100 and it's too lean. But of course everyone's setup is different.

I'd start with your largest jet in the kit and work down. It's easier for me to start rich and work my way down. That way I eliminate the the guessing of rich or lean at the start.

Moved license plate to behind CVT cover utilized a simple bracket I made.

Sadly I don't think it's legal to use it like this because the statutes say it must be at least 12" from the ground and it's not. That and I would need to add LEDs.
I'm going to ditch it and mount it back, but not with screws as before, but something more clever.

I had mine like your but a little higher for awhile then I switched to a vertical mount. Both mounts came off the gearbox bolt just bellow the shock mount. I used tag LED bolts from Autozone. The law reads that I'm suppose to have a toll transponder to mount a vertical tag but since I can't legally ride on the Turnpike I said the hell with it.

I don't know if that is legal the way I am reading the law.
"The license tag of a motorcycle or moped may be affixed horizontally to the ground so that the numbers and letters read from left to right. Alternatively, a license tag for a motorcycle or moped for which the numbers and letters read from top to bottom may be affixed perpendicularly to the ground"
It seems like you would have to have a tag that read from top to bottom to be displayed that way

That's not how I read it. I think it is worded to mean how the plate is positioned. Not sure if they still have the toll transponder requirement. There are a lot of vertical motorcycle plates here. I know that doesn't make it legal and it may just not be enforced but the cops down here look for reasons to pull you over.
