I can see where this is going
"just one more scoot..."

I figured this is what I was going to find after taking the scoot for it's first test drive; it was "cutting out" and after a few seconds of idling it would throttle up normal for a few seconds and then "cut out" again spitting and sputtering... The float level was too low causing the carb bowl to starve. Luckily, this carb has the metal tab for the needle and not the all plastic float like the Flip Zip had- it was just a matter of bending it a bit to get the float leveled out- That's better! It has a 70 Main jet which should be about right for the stock airbox with snorkel. I guess I just assumed the ebay airbox would have the boot with it, but it didn't so I have to use the boot that was on the scoot- it has a crack in it and looks like someone attempted to glue it previously. I need some Sugru! I'll use the fuel resistant moto1 ultra gray to fix it... Set the needle to middle position.

I've had a couple stock boxes that looked like the snorkels were home glued. Black tar like stuff.

That's what I'm thinking.

Got the carb and airbox installed and this baby runs like a champ! (I ended up using super glue to fix the crack) I swapped the nice clean looking clutch out for one that came out of the parts Zip and had some rust build-up inside the bell- keeping the good stuff for myself haha- I took some steel wool and sandpaper to the clutch bell but there's still a raised ring of corrosion that I couldn't seem to get off. I think it's making the clutch arms engage too soon- barely high idle and the wheel is spinning- no tach. I've got a little time on this one waiting for parts anyway so I think I'm going to install a set of higher Rpm springs. I got a few extra sets I'm not using so I might as well sell this as "performance".

Glad it's running good! I had a clutch issue I had to end up replacing it on my Triton flip. The holes that hold the springs ovaled out and wouldn't hold the pads tight.

Hey Niz looks like you've got some room in there. How about going and picking up the pink stroker and holding it there. Oh wait, you have a daughter that likes scoots and it's got hello kitty on it. Stay away!

Stay away! Lol I really just posted that scoot as a joke- but are you thinking of getting it? I know an 8 hour round trip is prohibitive... My daughter hates pink haha. She's been on a blue kick for about 2 years now... I offered to paint her pink scoot blue but she refuses to let me touch it! I think she sees me tearing these scoots down to nothing and would probably have a heart attack to see her scoot that way lmao.

I sent an email to a guy near Jacksonville that had one w/o a title for 300. Told him about getting a title and offered to split it but I haven't heard back. I may have to see if she'll come down on the price. She still has it and only a girl or me would buy it. Lol.

Lol If you do get it, we GOTTA see a vid of you riding it before the paint job hehe. It's probably just a vinyl wrap anyway and will peel off. Speaking of vinyl wrap- I found a few pics of my buddy's "Lightning Bike" that we wrapped last year. Turned out awesome! 500w electric scoot. We razz him and say his scoot is pink haha

If I do I will post a video of me on Pink Stroker doing a smokey burnout. Lol. That wrap looks great. I may have to consider that.

One of my most valuable tools while doing these flips has been this buffing pad from a headlight restoration kit along with some polishing compund. The headlight polishing compound has a fine abrasive to it so it makes it perfect for buffing out scooter plastics! Some of the parts I paint I don't even use clearcoat on; I just wet sand with 1000 grit and polish it out with my drill! I got the SMC scoot all polished out and every screw and part is in place and ready for sale! - Well, except I'm still waiting on that ebay oil seal so I can swap the rear tires back. She's looking fine! Soooo wish I could keep it I think I'll make the youtube vid today even with the wrong rear tire on just so I'm ready to roll the ad out when it's complete.
