Lol I'm sure the 250w stock motor would go up in cloud of smoke before we got any really dangerous speed out of it...

Got er all stripped down and ready to do some electrical mods. The batteries were really bulged out. They must've gotten really hot or overcharged. I'll be using the batteries and charger from my 36v home-brew e-bike. First things first; I need to convert the connector on the 36v charger to a stock Razor scooter connector. I cut the end off the 24v charger that came with this scoot and soldered it onto the 36v charger being sure to note polarity- I've fried a charger before by reversing the polarity. Now we've got a 36v charger with the Razor plug!

The next obstacle we needed to address is where to fit this third battery. Over the rear tire is about only the spot it'll fit and be totally covered by the body...
I fabbed up this mounting bracket... Added some tire tube to keep it nice and secure... Check that off the list!

The new 36v controller came today! Madison is off to a birthday party today and I've got the yardwork finished already (the advantage off having a pea gravel yard haha) so I think I'll take advantage of the quiet time time and get this thing wired in. Although it seems like a crazy mess of wires- and these controllers don't come with instructions- many of the wires are additional things that don't get used like regen braking, hall wires etc. Since this is a brushed motor, there's no hall effect wires so installation shouldn't be too difficult... We took a ride on our scoots yesterday to go pick up some pizza- we ride through our neighborhood and simply cross the road to the pizza place! And Madison's scoot could definitely use some more top speed. When we ride side-by-side my scoot is bacically at idle while she's at full throttle doing 13mph. I'm thinking 18-20mph will be a nice safe speed and the nice thing about these controllers is they have a "governer" plug. Simply put a jumper wire-or wire a switch- into the governer plug and the amps are limited.

Nice build. I built this Razor for my Daughter couple years ago. 36v controller, over volted 500-watt 24v motor. Top speed was almost 30-mph.

Hmmm 30mph and it's almost exactly the mods I'm doing. Does it seem too fast? I'm worried about the brake- the tiny rear drum doesn't seem up to the task of high speeds. I'm thinking of adding a BMX brake to the front. So it seems I may need to put in the jumper on the "governer" I was only hoping for @20mph...
