Since this is my first time really digging into a 4t I figured I'd pull the engine so I can get a good close look at what makes it tick! My concern is making sure the timing, valves, cam etc. is all lined up like it's supposed to be- and hopefully avoid some cursing by having the engine up on the workstand lol.

Good luck bro! Save some good tips for me because I'll be doing this shortly.
Did you order the matching head for the BBK or are you using the factory head? (Or equivalent?) I've heard lots having good luck with the factory spec head over the big bore head. I still have to call John and order the head. *sigh*

Boy the PO really did a number on this. Scratches and gouges everywhere!

I had a guy on YouTube telling me about using a claw hammer to try and pry apart an engine. He later realized bolts were still in it. No, he's not in FL. Just wild the stuff that some of these get put through. They're little motors though, so they can't be difficult to work on, right? I don't claim to be totally above this sort of thing though... I've publicly posted some of the blunders I've made over the years.

I pulled this out of the engine: There were a lot of metal chunks in the oil drain cap- I've been flushing it out with fresh oil and it seems to be clean and metal-free. Hope this thing is ok!

Ah, gotcha. I wasn't sure what condition it was in once you got it all off and cleaned up. I'm holding off on ordering the head. I just am thinking of swapping the valve cover from one of the others without the emissions crap. Gotta see if it will fit.

The BBK is installed! I took it slow and steady and sealed the base gasket up on both sides with Moto1. Everything went along pretty smooth following the BBK How to in the 4t Tech section. Thanks Brent!

I'd pay for that info and might get a chuckle out of it especially if it was something I had done or was thinking about doing. I've read post on here before about things gone arye that I was gonna do to my scoot and very thankful that I'd seen here that was a bad idea. niz76 looking good brother. Is that the style scoot with the big caddy style rear fender? If it is that would be the one to slam kinda like the gear heads did to the 50's area mercs (like in Cobra) look sick and I bet you'd have great target market for something like that in Florida imo. :riding:

I was thinking it would look pretty sick with a longcase and whitewalls on some 12" rims- lowered too- pretty nice little scoot actually... This scoot came with a windsheild too- makes it look even better IMO.

Man that's sexy. I'm not a huge fan of the "cady" look but that scoot can look like a true classic beauty. Good job on the BBK too man. I hope it fires up and screams!

A scoot like that could be very cool with some old Caddy style. I'd like to see the rear sides extended down so it made a straight line on the bottom front to back and then some old bullet style Cadillac tail lights. Not sure how it would work on a scooter, but bubble style wheels would be neat. fordofwestmemphis.blogspot.com/2009/01/fomoco-freighter.htmlI've publicly posted some of the blunders I've made over the years. Right now I just wish I'd stop writing new chapters.

I really dig the retro look on this. Once I have the dough to get another scooter, will strongly consider something with a style like this if I can find one I can afford.
