I pulled this out of the engine: Yikes that looks like a bearing it wouldn't have been a bad idea to crack the case open on that one! What kind or bearings do the cranks use on these small engines? It does look like it could be a bearing from a big engine, but that's the cylinder skirt I believe. These things use radial ball bearings for the main/crank bearings and needle roller bearings on both ends of the conrod.

That's exactly what it is- a cylinder skirt.

I really wish this guy wouldn't put this scoot outside like he did- there's a ton of beautiful chrome on this thing and it's a lot of work getting the rust off! The CVT cover needed some attention and I feel that the tube looking section of these 4t CVT covers makes it look as if there's something missing that's supposed to go there... So I did a quick chop and grind! I prepped it for primer and paint... I was thinking since I was going through the trouble of priming this cvt cover to look good- I usually just shoot them with a coat of flat black and call it done- what could I do to really make this thing pop? Drumroll please.... Sparkle blast! lol I didn't go crazy with it, just enough to give a nice flake look. I also painted the "GMW" letters with one of my daughters tiny paintbrushes (it looks white in the pic, but it's actually silver). It initially didn't look good at all- messy where I went outside the lines a bit, but I went back with a black sharpie and touched it up. Came out pretty nice! Here it is with a fresh coat of clear on it: </span>

Nice job on the CVT. Though that chop you did was I think just a generic air intake for the CVT as they seem to come with their own natural cooling vents. As for the GMW, why not just slap some masking tape around it, cut out the GMW and spray it something nice? I find that to be easier myself. Sharpie is a little "Ring a ding ding ding!" Seriously though, you're doing a kick ass job at turning these things out so fast man. I spent 30 min on my GMW M1 just now futzing with wiring and adjusting the mixture screw on it and it was dark before I knew it. Holding a flashlight and trying to turn a tiny screwdriver on a difficult screw nearly put me in a panic. I can't wait for the day when you come home with a welder.

Thats one thing i have wondered about seeing everyone installing the BBK on their engines if the wrist pin needed to be pressed in but i'm guessing it just slides in and out with clips on the piston? I use a longish flat head driver to adjust my carb you can go under the fender and get to the carb that way as well. That cover looks amazing man!

Lol That welder may actually come soon! Too many of these scoots that I like but they have 4t's- one of them is eventually getting some 2t motor mounts! As for masking it off to paint- for one the black paint was still tacky- I don't have the patience to do a 3 day paint job lol. I actually thought I was going to do a nice neat job with that little paintbrush but no. Now that the clear coat is on you can't even see my sharpie touch-ups. Turned out nice!

Trust me even with clearcoat sharpie fades my first ride was an 83 Ranger well one of my friends did an awesome scene on the hood we clear coated it thinking that would protect it but after 3 months in the sun it faded right out. :/

One thing I've learned is paint takes patience. It took me two days to do my coffee table. I applied a stain base but it didn't take right so I sprayed it black then had to brush on a clear coat. Of course when I put it back together, two of the bolts went a little too far through the top so it's got two "pimples" but they aren't that bad. The table was a salvage from my job so I can't complain. As for the welder. Good luck with that. I think if I brought home a welder and started throwing fire outside, my neighbors would probably picket my apartment lol. But yeah. I'd love to put my 2t motor one of the 4t frames I have. But nooooo!!! stupid motor mounts.

Yes. The pin gets tight in the piston after use sometimes, but otherwise it should all move pretty freely.

I was surprised to see that this 139qmb doesn't use a wrist pin bearing- piston pin just slides into crank end- interesting...

Got the engine back in the scoot and went and got some 15w40 oil for it. Now I need to run up and get some (non pre-mix) fuel... I haven't even looked into the fuel tank yet- hopefully it's not all nasty like the last two have been. Getting nervous- this is my first time digging into a 4t and I don't have any confidence in myself yet. Hope she runs!! I'm also worried about the 50mm piston. I couldn't find any 47mm bbk's w/everything I needed at the time I ordered this so I just said "screw it" and got the 50mm... hope it doesn't come back to bite me in the ass!!

I'm also a little worried about the main jet I'm using- The MJ that came with the BBK was way too tiny- wonder what it's for? There's a scoot shop close by so I can run up and grab some main jets if I need to- the one that's in the carb now is a 91. I don't have any experience with this 4t... any idea what stock size range usually is? Is it around 68-75 like the 2t's? I know different manufacturers use different sizes- I'm just being a worry wart lol.

Oh- and another thing- the rest of the cooling shroud wasn't with the scoot! I've searched through all the parts and it's not here. luckily the seller lives close by and I'm going to swing by his place to see if he has it...

Damn- shoulda figured. Oh well, I've got the process of cleaning the tanks with muriatic acid and water down to about an hour or so. Pretty safe to say anything that's been sitting empty for even a short period of time probably looks like this...

Just remember to use baking soda to neutralize the vinegar or the tank will flash rust!
