I adjusted both valves down to .0025. There's a slight tapping (which I read is healthy?) Engine sounds much better now! Well I guess I got my wish- I found out what makes these 4t's tick! hehehe (crickets). For some reason I thought you could run these 4t's without the valve cover on. You can imagine what happened when I fired it up! So how much oil did you wear? After reading these last few posts, now I think I need to re-adjust my valves again. I think I made them too tight. Though there hasn't been any issues. And yes, they sound like a slot machine when they run sometimes at first. Just imagine your car in a much smaller scale. PS. Since I found out today that I can't complete the front end job on my car this weekend, I think you're encouraging me to attempt the BBK in one of my scoots this weekend. 2TDave will be happy to see me finally do it too. Dooo EEEtttt!! lol I didn't wear any oil- but I sure learned you CANNOT SHOULD NOT run a 4t without the valve cover lol.

Call it a $55 gamble- but I just couldn't resist throwing the seat on and taking it for a short spin to the end of my road without the lower shroud! Holy torque! Yah I think I will take Bren't advice and "detune" with heavier roller weights. The takeoff can afford it! Felt like I was driving a schoolbus with those wide handlebars out at a weird angle haha.

Turns out I'm not going to have the rectifier I needed tomorrow because of my stupidity so there's no point in touching that thing. Because when I do, it's all got to come apart to get to it all. I may get froggy though and just remove all the paneling on it and get my hands in there. PS. As for your retro there, I'm friggin jealous now man. I'm not a huge fan of the "retro" look, but I really am loving the handlebars. It reminds me of a chopper really. I would love to throw that front end on my M1. So. Wanna take a drive over here this weekend? *wink wink*

i run mine around .003 so they're a bit quieter that at .004, any narrower of a gap on mine (.0025 included) results in a loss of low end power. if ya end up with a 4 stroke for awhile, dont forget the gap can close over time, which may silence the noise altogether, but could also rob the engine of power, and cause valves to run hot/burn.

So I went and picked up the two pieces I needed to complete the engine shroud (I already had the upper). I bought them used from Florida Powersports down in St. Pete. They're ugly and dirty and the side shroud even has a broken tab. The guy wanted 25 bucks! I told him I could order the two new for $17 shipped from partsforscooters.com and he took $20 lol. I guess that's the price you pay for wanting the parts today! I'm imagining a guy running that site from his apartment with scooter parts stacked to the ceiling everywhere haha. However they run it, they do a great job! I just didn't want to wait until Tues. to get this cooling shroud...

I've been to Florida Powersports before but it's been awhile. They have a bunch of junked out scooters sitting outside and half a dozen 2t's too, but this pre-bug Zuma caught my eye! I asked them how much they're asking but the guy said it isn't for sale- just for parts because there's no title... hmmm. If there parts prices are any indication of what they're selling used scoots for I'm sure it was too high, but I'd like to pick something like this up for $400 or less! It has the vertical engine and seems to be kinda weak in places... I got a little excited thinking I might be able to scoop this up for the next flip but no Talk about zero storage space!

I wouldn't bother with that thing. There's so much better out there to do. BTW. There's a guy local here I just found out about. I may pay him a visit tomorrow, if I don't spend the entire day tuning my damn VX50 again. lol PS. Just to let you know. The intake you sent me wouldn't fit with the air filter. I tried front mount and there was no way it hell it was going to fit, not without some butter and a blowtorch. I also have the reed valve cage sitting here too and maybe even a 49cc top end that's in surprisingly good shape! Go check my VX50 thread and you'll see. I may start putting all these parts in some bins in case anyone needs them, so I can at least pay back what some of you guys have done for me. Thank you, Niz, fort the encouragement to take on this project this weekend. Also thank you 2TDave for yelling at me to do it. lol

Ya- you'd need a front mount air filter to go along with that intake to make it work... I'm not sure I could fit one though with the panels back on. I don't know. I'm going to tune this thing tomorrow with this open filter and see how it goes. The filter is kind of loud, that was expected. But I'm going to cut the pod up a bit more and throw it on so it's at least covered from the tire. God I hope I did this install right.

Almost done! My father in law flew down from Michigan yesterday and we've been having fun playing on the scoots in the neighborhood! So far I've put 10 miles on this BBK and it seems to be running great! I'm happy that the 91 Main Jet appears to be perfect. She definitely needs heavier roller weights- the CVT takes too long to "shift". It revs out quite a bit while taking off and you're looking for the shifter to get into the next gear haha. Little more buffing and cleaning and she'll be ready for Craigslist! My wife thinks I should ask for $700 on this scoot...

The 50mm BBK hasn't really added any top speed- still stuck at 35mph, but it shines when it comes to hills. We have a decent hill one street over and baby powers right up it no problem!

I'd trade you my M1 for that almost. Except I paid $900 for my M1 haha. I'm still in scoot tuning hell, this weather is pissing me off. As soon as I put my helmet on, it starts to rain. I already gave half of my town a wet t-shirt contest on my last test run.

It needs a pipe... I didn't think my BBK would add top speed to my VX50 till I saw it finally screamed past the 8.2k RPM block I had hit before. You want a pipe. You need a pipe. YOU SMELL DA PIPE!
