This time I watched the needle blow past 50, looked up and locked em up. I couldn't believe it. I took about three more runs and then POP! Apparently I didn't get the exhaust manifold gasket in properly and pinched it in half. I shut her down after the 3rd quick twist of the throttle and could identify where the new horrible sound was coming from. Idk where I've heard of or read of "Hot valves &cold air" are not buddy's, but it sounds logical to be conditions that would cause a valve to shatter.

renners used some copper wire to create a ring exhaust gasket. Possible temp solution at least. Copper RTV is not only helpful for sealing, but if you let it set up for a minute it will help the gasket stay in place a little better while you install the pipe.

So Clank, tell us what you think was the true cause of your problem. (Not counting your phone!)
Also you removed your A9 cam. Please tell me more about that. I have one on the way and I want to install it. I have read on here that an A9 really wakes up a 47mm BBK.

I made my last exhaust gasket from some Mr Gasket exhaust gasket material and it has worked fine. I have bought some new gaskets from John at TVNACMAN that should work even better. The next time my pipe comes off I will be doing some port cleanup on it also.

If you still have the copper ring gasket you can use a torch to 'anneal' it and make it very soft again- might be enough to squish it back into shape and get you where u need to go...

What am I talkning about- you're a metal working guy! Now I feel kinda silly bringing up annealing to you- I'm sure u didn't need me to mention it

So don't ever hold back on Intel. It's a good share.

Billy True cause partially the carbs idle jet was clogged and I'm thinking partially spark plug. I plan on putting the A9 back in. I took it out trouble shooting. I think from what I've read the A9 is for a 150 so I thought maybe the cam was holding the valves open too long.
