Not sure yet I have break at 9am... ima go out and pull the exhaust and look in there to see if I can see anything but good thing is I didn't lock it up I just burned a hole in the piston I think.... Man I'm sick to my stomach.... Sigh illogical keep yuns posted on my stupid expensive mistake ugjghghghhhhhhh 'I also noticed that my crank seal on the variator side was leaking yesterday so that didn't help the lean matter ..

Wow I got lucky cylinder looks great just the piston ring land melted a bit causing the ring to stick, very little amount of aluminum stuck on the cylinder as well-pewee u u u u..... Not as bad as I thought... I shoukd have the new piston/ring in a day or so.... This time I'm keeping it rich as hell

How did it happen is your biggest and main concern. These high end setups will kick your ass if you don't treat em nice.

Well I'm nor sure how it happened yet I mean it gave me no warning at all just baaam it shut off didn't sound different or anything, after I tear into it I'll find the problem ima guess and say that crank seal combined with 19 degree weather this morning did it... Also it only damaged the piston at the intake ports not the boost port or exhaust.... That is kinda odd right?

Thats the main reason i havent pulled the trigger on a big $$ kit yet, dont think i could stomach a nasty seize!
You really need a gauge, a temp gauge for the under the plug or someway to see head temps. If you really wanna save it and have the money get a EGT gauge and set that up! Instant temp response to changes lean or rich with those!

Oh yeah, and this? You gotta update your sig! Stock ignition? If so you really need to update! These OEM boxes are flat-liners with no real curve in the map... You run that big evo into the 11,12-14,000RPM range (if it will even rev that high) and its gonna probably hurt it if you hold it for any amount of time when it never pulls enough timing out. That being said, FUCK man i bet that thing would be fun fun with the right tune!

That last post might be the reason it got hot at 11+,000RPM? That or lack of oil are the only two things that cause rings to stick.. Well, debris or improper ring install will too i suppose?..
The million dollar question, what ignition?

I have modified the ignition plate and advanced the timing to 16 degree.,what kinda ignition do you suggest? Do I need a different cdi? Or an inner rotor?

Thats the initial timing at idle.. You need a CDI with a real curve in the timing. If you are running the stock CDI it is not pulling enough timing out when the engine revs over 10,000. The stockers just dont do it. Maybe a couple degrees but you need more with that engine! See, stock engines on scoots were built to rev to maybe 10,000RPM so thats how the stock CDI is built.. With little to no timing curve.. 2T,s are nothing like fours, they need less timing with RPM.
Im betting this is why you toasted it and will keep doing so unless you get a better CDI
Brent and John have done thorough tests with ignitions..See if i can find some info?

bummer but atleast its not a hole in piston and the new crank got sprayed with molten aluminum. Does it have a bridged exhaust? if so it needs ample clearance there between bridge and piston. Detonation has been known to do wonders to ringlands and pistons themselves.melt holes, break ringlands, pit and kinda sand blast the top surface of piston.Detonation is caused from too low of octane for compression or timing... please post the pics when you get it apart for everyone
