No stepped key was included with it and according to the manual it doesn't need any additional modifications, just plug and play. Even with the blue CDI I can't get past 8200rpms with the current setting. Today I'm gonna go get me some lighter rollers and we'll see if I can break past that 8200 barrier.

8200rpms are too low. Somethings not matching up since the stock cylinder will rev to 10k. My 100% stock axis with only yasuni R did 75kph @gps and 90 on the speedo.
Is your tach working properly? How sure are you? Whats your gear ratio? What kinda exhaust do you have?

Lucass2T My first thought was also is the tacho broken or not but going extreme light on the rollers made it rev up to 9800rpms. Gear ratio is 1:11.*something* Exhaust is a B-Moon Factory V8 I have this exhaust since the first day I got this scooter. Don't get me wrong the Scooter runs very strong right now and it is very, very quick of the start line. From 0 to 60 in a heartbeat but then after I reach 60 it takes a long stretch to reach the 75km/h that I reached yesterday. Also the tacho shows 8200 not more and not less at full WOT. Just for the experience sake and to make sure I will swap again the reed block to the stock one. If that also shouldn't help then I have a problem somewhere else. I just read a few pages back in this thread and I see that the day I swapped the reed block rpms went significantly down. Like you said even with stock stuff and a bit of tuning it revs high up near the 10000 area. I will report back once I swapped the reed block.

Yeah it's a tricky one. You could swap back to the stock reed yeah. But i'm sure thats not the problem unless you oversaw something in the first place. The workings of a reed and it's parts (petal thickness and weave direction) doesn't influence engine behaviour that bad...but checking is never a bad idea.

Tomorrow is the moment of truth. Swapped in the stock reed block and will let the Motoseal dry till tomorrow. I'll keep you posted.

Could you find any problems with the aftermarket reed? Broken, bent, warped or not 100% sealing petals? Or maybe obstructions of any kind?

I woke up at 8am on my day off so that I can take the Scoot for a test drive before it starts to rain. The moment of truth.....it is not the reed block! Same rpms but this time with less punch than I had with the big reed block so that one definitely goes back in once I get a new gasket. So oldgeek and others out there that have a 5BM engine that Big Reed Block from KN is worth it. You get an extra punch in torque and acceleration. I have had such moments quite some times now and when that happens I usually start again with the CVT. Revert back to stock and go from there. Thanks for the help guys. Have a nice weekend.

Today is one of those lucky days! Found a new bike parts store and I went in and came out with this. This is the other big reed block for the 5BM engine from Cameleonfactory. oldgeek www.webike.net/sd/1352446/New condition with gaskets, normal price is around $80 I paid $35! Yes! On top of that I found 19x15.5g rollers (6x 7.5g) from Malossi which is very, very rare here. More info and pics once I get back on my Desktop at home. Stay tuned!

ryan_ottSorry, not many Dio parts this time. The only thing I could quickly spot was a tail light unit. I am sure if I had more time I could look more thorough around but during my lunch break that was not possible.

For some people it's just scrap for others a place full of treasures. All kinds of engines from good to terrible conditions.Hard to believe there are places like that in the world. That place is on my bucket, and I dont even know where its at!
