I found that a heat gun just didn't cut it to heat my cases when I built my engine, they went in the oven at about 120c for 30 minutes of longer while the bearings sat buried in dry ice. Temp difference was such it took about 15minutes before the bearings started getting tight in the case halves.

Guys, the hot cold days are over! Long live the crank installer. The guy who invented that tool deserves a medal! Crank is installed! Took me roughly 30 min including prep work. I took a video of the bearing installation and tons of images when installing the crank. Stay tuned.... 90GTVert man, that shimming thing sounds like a nightmare.

Just curious, why does people hit the crank with a hammer or mallet at the end of an installation?

Just curious, why does people hit the crank with a hammer or mallet at the end of an installation? To take out their frustration. J/K It's because sometimes the crank gets off center and binds up so it won't spin freely, so they tap it to move it enough that it can spin without resistance.

Here is the video. No idea why but youtube converted it to 360p even though I did it the exact same way as I did my other scooter videos which showed in 720p. Well, I guess you guys can see what I did even if it is in this crappy quality. Looks like youtube processed the video and now higher quality is available.

Very nice. I have that tool and have never used it to install the bearings onto the crank before. Thanks for the video. I added it to the Tech Library.

Yeah, thanks to birdman for giving this idea. That tool is fantastic and makes the installation so easy. I can highly recommend it. It saves you the trouble with that hot/cold stuff and you can install the bearings and crank within the same day.

Today after work I want to install the crank seals. Is there anything I should be aware or cautious? Besides not to put them too deep inside of course. Grease? Motoseal? If yes, where to apply?
I think the crank installer tool has the perfect size to tab in the seals without going too far in.

Just need a good smear of grease around the inside of them.

Well its not my idea. The way i did mine, was hot cold method with crank and bearings.. I put the crank in the freezer overnight then heated the bearings and slid them on the crank. Then i used the tool you have to install the crank with the bearings on it into the case halves.
