I know "most" of the time the 3 shoe is a bit larger diameter I believe 107mm and the 2 shoe is 105mm. This is for stock clutch and bell. Another thing I have noticed which is common sense..the aluminum mhr td would be cool enough to touch your finger to the stock bell after riding for a good amount of time. Guess the large aluminum td kept things cool. I need to read over your thread see what you are building to make a educated decision. I have only ran stock clutch though and that's all I could comment about.

Other than maybe the material or how they are made, they are the same and don't care if you use 2 or 3 shoes. I don't know about that, wouldn't the fulcrum point be different? I swear my 3 shoe hits harder.

I swear my 3 shoe hits harder. Clutch BELLS don't care if you use a 2 or 3 shoe clutch. They are not specifically designed for either. Also, most aftermarket clutches come in 105 or 107 mm. You can get a 3 shoe clutch in 105 or 107. Same with 2 shoe clutches like the Polini 2G, which is far better than the 3G. I have both and the 3G needs to be thrown in the junk pile as far as I'm concerned.

Stock Yamaha... the 3 shoe clutch is much better than the junk 2 shoe.
With the exception of the Polini, I'd always buy a 3 shoe clutch over a 2 shoe.

Thanks for clearing that.
So I can keep the stock 105mm clutch bell. And I should stay away from the Polini 3G stuff. So what about the Malossi Fly clutch? I don't want to spend $100+ for a clutch just something better then my current stock 2 shoe.

Malossi fly clutch is just a replacement for the stock clutch with a malossi sticker and malossi pricetag.

Man this clutch thing looks to be same much a PITA as the search for a good Variator. I know I might cause a storm here but what about Naraku stuff? China, yes but still what about their clutch bell (Naraku V.2). And while we are at clutch bells what are all the differences between the Stage6 bells. There are like 3-4 different types. The cool looking, black ones and then the stock looking wing thing. Man my head spins... looking at clutches and clutch bells for the past 2 hours gives me head aches.
So thus far I have;
Recommended clutches (107mm):
Stage6 MKII Malossi Delta Polini 2G ( ? ) HiT (comes with clutch bell that's why it cost $200+)
Recommended Clutch Bells:
HiT (comes with the clutch as set) ? ? ... .. .

I looked at clutches for a while but am like Tsimi and leaving to the end to sort out. There was no replacemet that enables the use of the G-Lock. So based on the I will end up looking at the 107 bell and clutch. My thoughts are that the 107mm gives more surface are for the shoe to contact. The other benefit to swapping out the stock 105 for a new one would be balance, weight saving and heat disipation.

I'll start off with the simple one: Stage6 bells and why so many... Different weights for the fancy black ones. Then there is the Wingcooler and the Wingcooler R/T. I don't know what the difference is between the last two. Most likely material and weight.
I think the clutch question need to be answered with your type of riding style. If you don't care that it grabs and go's then probably most three shoe clutches are better than the stock one that you're using now. If you're like me and like it to hook the f up then ya spend some money and get a Delta or HIT. I'll tell ya though, that Polini hooks up pretty damn good and I like the way it grabs better than the Stage6 mkII. The Stage6 is super easy to adjust though and you'll never struggle with swapping springs. They literally drop into position and you adjust from there.
Looking on scootertuning.com I would probably pick the 105mm Metrakit Prorace since you want to keep the stock bell. It's similar in design to the Delta but a lot cheaper and if it's anything like the rest of their stuff, then it's well made. That's what I'd pick for a nice budget clutch.

spaz12 Thanks as always. Well regarding the stock bell, like I said if it is worth it performance-wise I would swap the bell. I don't know why, call me stupid, but I kinda dig Polini stuff even though they fucked up my Evo Variator. I am looking closely at the 107mm Polini Speed Clutch 2G Evolution clutch and the Polini Evolution Bell. They would cost me both together around $140 which is rather cheap in comparison with Stage6 or HiT. But as you said any 3 shoe clutch is probably better then what I have right now so... I really struggle to make up my mind. Another reason why I want to get a clutch is I don't want to waste shipping cost. I need to order 2 throttle wires and the Malossi 12mm piston (if it turns out that the cylinder runs) and while I am add it why not add a clutch and evtl. a bell.

The Polini 2G is a good clutch and I have no doubt that you'll like it. I've never used the HIT and I'm hoping that it'll be better than the 2G and if it is then it'll be awesome in my book because the 2G really is that good. Blah blah blah. That Metrakit Prorace clutch is looking pretty good though... Especially for the price. I have no idea how good it is though. I would turn you away from the Stage6 clutch if you said that later you were going for a wild ride. The Stage6 just doesn't cut it for strong motors.

spaz12I can get the 2G cheaper then the metrakit. Downside of the 2G, special clutch springs and only two variations.

Hey guys
Can anyone give me some advise on the following items I need to get next. Brand to look for, where to buy from etc.
Rear shock ( New exhaust scrapes when taking bumpy right hand corners) Variator drive face ( I broke a fin while tightening the nut. Don't ask)
Thanks

spaz12 I can get the 2G cheaper then the metrakit. Downside of the 2G, special clutch springs and only two variations. Never heard bad stories about the 2G (nor significantly good). I dunno why polini used this design with 2 shoes and compression springs...You should try to find out what kinda clutches they use in the Polini 70-94cc cup in Italy.
