Oh yeah I forgot to mention I have been using the stock Metal Reed block in my vino that my buddy rides HARD all the time, with no problems for 2K? Now? (knock on wood)

Thanks oldgeekThat is what I was thinking about when I looked at all kinds of reeds. I will most likely order that KN reed block for $50. There is one more reed block for the 5BM but that one is almost $100! Both come with glass fiber reeds. I don't think I can get a good deal for 2 but I certainly can test it out and give you a feedback. The stock reeds seem to be strong and can take some abuse thus far but I just don't want to risk it anymore especially now that I got the 19mm PHBG carb. Here links to both reed blocks. www.webike.net/sd/1352446/www.webike.net/sd/1959310/

Today again, plenty of time so I did some CVT tuning and changed the vacuum and fuel hose. I ended up using following sizes;
Fuel Hose: - Outer diameter: 9mm - Inner diameter: 5mm
Vacuum Hose: - Outer diameter: 8mm - Inner diameter: 4mm
CVT tuning; added stiffer clutch springs to be able to skip the sputtering part at low range. Also added a 1000rpm torque spring but that was not a good thing to do. It took away all my take off power and torque at the start. Swapped back the stock spring and all is good for now. Nice take off power with the stiffer clutch springs, I like it and will keep it like this for now until my new treats arrive.

I drove this scooter today. It's a Jog with a 5BM engine, 71cc BBK, Mikuni carb with funel only. (Carb size unknown), 9 spoke alu wheels, custom fork and rear suspension and that crazy looking pipe. (Pipe maker unknown) That thing is a beast! No tachometer but it has very hard clutch springs inside it with very late clutch engagement. And it is soooooo loud! I thought my Jog was loud but that monster beats my Jog at everything. Take off, top speed, response and sound I loose at every one of those aspects. Kinda sad but same time very exiting to see another tuned scooter around here. Also my torque driver, big reed block and belt are on the way. This was the fastest order I have ever placed. Ordered at 16:21, shipped at 18:30! And it should arrive tomorrow latest day after tomorrow.

Just installed the "longer" belt and to be honest I cannot see much of a difference between my previous Kevlar belt and the new one. It sits same high on the rear pulley which tells me that the Variator space must have some part to do with it. Maybe a 0.5mm washer will make the belt go further out and because it is a bit longer I might be able keep the same top speed? We'll see...
Another thing I would like to know is, I heard people saying that installing a reed block by using only the paper gasket is not good and it will leak. I have Motoseal available, will that be good enough to seal the reed block with the paper gasket?
Today I met the owner of that beast Jog that I posted 3-4 posts above. He showed me a list of things that have been done to that Scooter. Now I know why I loose at every aspect, that things has no original parts on it anymore except for the frame and panels. They did some fixing and he asked me If I would like to drive it. I reached 100+ km/h!!! It would have gone faster but I ran out of road. 100+ on 10inch weels! Scary stuff.
- 5BM engine base - BBK 71cc Daytona - Carb 24mm Mikuni with boost bottle and large intake and funel. - Crank and bearings - Complete custom CVT - High gears - Pipe - 10 inch Kitaco Alu Wheels He said I can take apart the CVT or the whole Scooter if I like to see how things are made and setup as long I put it back together. So weekend I will go and take apart the CVT because that is what I struggle the most at the moment.

Here some pics of the reed block. I don't know what material it is made from but it is heavy and definitely not plastic like the stock one. Man, I need a couple of those! As far as sealing them, I would definitely use something along with the gasket. I like motoseal, It does a good job, and cleans up fairly easily when you have to take it apart later.

Where do you recommend putting Motoseal? Between the gasket and engine block or between the gasket and the reed block or does it even matter where?

At every junction. Both sides of both gaskets. No leaks! Any inconsistencies in airflow can make you pull your hair out when trying to tune
