What type of cylinder are we talking about? I can't definitively say that you can do it and get away with it on a nikasil cylinder, but first impressions are that you can. Corrosion says that you can too. I think a couple more people chimed in saying that it's possible and doesn't seem to hurt them. A cast iron bore has no problems with a hand hone and you would be wise to do one.

What type of cylinder are we talking about? Polini Sport 70cc (iron cast) and Stock Yamaha 50cc cylinder (probably iron cast too) A cast iron bore has no problems with a hand hone and you would be wise to do one. Roger that. Hand hone it is then. Thank you.

In my excitement I forgot to order new needle bearings. I know that I have to replace the bearing for the stock top end but my Polini Sport BBK has a Malossi bearing with approx. 700 miles on it. Does it need replacing even if it doesn't show any sign of damage or wear? And how good are the stock Yamaha needle bearings? Good enough for a Sport BBK?

It should probably be okay, but damn, I'd sure hate to be the one that told you that and it screwed up. I'm a freak when it comes to that stuff so I would change it, but I personally know guys that have done it and got away with it. I cringe thinking about it though.

I cannot get another Malossi Needle bearing that quick but I can get stock Yamaha needle bearings within 2-3 days here. That is why I asked if a stock Yamaha bearing could handle a Sport BBK.

The stock Yamaha bearing is probably better quality then the malossi anyways. I was using oem Yamaha crank bearings and seals in my last set up, and it seen 13,000 rpm constantly.

PIGYou mean the monster you build in your liquid conversion topic? Or one before that?

Today I cleaned the stock top end and hand honed the cylinder. At this point, a big "thank you" to niz76 for his very helpful hand hone video. Everything is ready for install now just waiting for the missing parts now.

Sorry Tsimi, I didn't read it carefully enough. Like PIG says, the stock Yamaha bearing is pretty good so it'll be just fine.

PIGYou mean the monster you build in your liquid conversion topic? Or one before that? No, my recent 86cc build came as kit, so bearings where included. My set up before this build was a S6 MKII race 70cc, with a Yasuni C16. It had Yamaha bearings and seals in it. Originally it had Polini seals, but they started leaking within a couple hundred miles on them. Seals, bearings, and gaskets, I personally perfer Yamaha stuff. They built these things to last thousands of miles by people that generally do no maintance and treat them like shit. We're a rare bread of enthusiast that actually maintain them.

Today I removed the engine from my Red Jog. I'm a picture whore so here we go... Spark plug with approx. 400 miles on it. I am not good a spark plug reading so you guys tell me how that looks. And here the engine removal. Man I love my workbench, so convenient. I mentioned in a different topic that I had oil all over the bottom area of my engine, my guess is that I put a bit too much additional oil into the tank during the break in period. Looks like the stock oil pump does a better Job then expected. Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to remove the top end and see if I did all correct thus far with my BBK. I also have the feeling that treatland.tv stuff might not arrive in time to install the 19mm PHBG carb together with the engine again.

The spark plug looks great. The bench is awesome btw. Looks like the original feed line to the oil pump? I'm thinking it is and possibly the reason for all that oil. If it is, you should get a new one. Don't forget that it needs to be oil/fuel rated. Myself, I use a safety wire to make sure that it's on there good and tight. Also, on Zuma's, the that little tiny line that goes from oil pump to the carburetor is too short when switching to Dellorto carburetors. Here in 'Merica you can find that tiny line in the weedeater section of the hardware store.

I will have a closer look at that oil line and see what is going on exactly. I just know that I didn't had that much oil under the engine previous to the BBK. Yeah, I know I have to probably get a longer oil line to reach the PHBG carb. I think they sell them here at the bike store so It shouldn't be a big issue. The oil pump of both my Yamahas are running electronically (i think) there is no wire connected to the oil pump but an electric plug is coming out from the same spot where the oil hose is coming out (stator side). I will take more pics tomorrow when I remove the top end. btw. that engine block is gonna become my stock engine with stock top end for the silver Jog. Thanks again for your comments, very appreciated.
