i'm guessing that in scoot world, there are only handful of manus for 150cc 4t engines, right? it's not like a motorcycle where each of the manus (95%) makes their own engines... correct? So, does this mean the average top speed for 150cc 4t is around 55mph (actual)? Does anyone know what's the fastest 150cc engine is?? Original post was about a TaoTao 150. When talking Chinese 150s, it's an extremely high likelihood that you're dealing with a GY6 150. The TaoTao definitely is. Moving outside of Chinese scoots, there are others with roughly similar displacements that may be quicker and faster. Some newer big brand 150s are reported at over 70MPH.

Wow, over 70mph?! What are these models?? I've only seen 150cc Vespa models list their speeds (55mph max.), so am curious now...

Both my 150's will do over 100KPH/60MPH(66MPH for my KYMCO) with a little tuning I might be able to hit 70MPH but on 12" wheels not sure I want to go faster then my current top speed as it gets real squirrely at those speeds.

I've hit 56 mph with an all stock gy6 150cc, and that was fast enough for me on 10 inches wheels.

Mine was about 57 out of the box. Now it will prob do 65 maybe 70. I could prob tune it for 75 but once I hit 60 I learned that 60 isn't very cool. All I know is that it's not inviting riding that fast on any step through lol. I can imagine the 15in wheel scooters would be more desirable at top speeds. I only have 13's but at least they aren't 12's on a 150. The 150's really all need to have at least 13 in wheels.

I destroyed GY6 150 with both me and my wife on our little Typhoon, both on straights and on climbs. Talking about Genuine Buddy, 150, so 10". We could keep up with Vespa 150's. It doesn't help that the riders of these buddies were.. "on the larger" side, although I am my 220lbs. This was last year, without proper exhaust, inlet, ignition etc.
The engine puts out, for 150cc, around 8hp. And I have to say, and sorry for my language, these 4T engines are SO.FUCKING.BORING. Excitement level: ._____.
Sure, if you want a daily driver, different story, but let us be real. Life doesn't have to be boring. The bus is even cheaper and more exciting then.
