I'm repainting plastic body panels (I'm not interested in ordering panels or using vinyl wrap). The panels are currently stock glossy blue and I plan on painting them a matte/flat navy/dark blue using aerosol paint (I will not be buying a spray gun/airbrush system). I would like the final result to have the same look as in this photo: wrapfolio.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/DSC_0056.jpgI've read through various threads on the method (including this one: 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/10805/preparation-painting-scooter), and I'm just looking for some advice on a good option for aerosol paint (or auto paint put into an aerosol can) that comes in matte/flat navy/dark blue that will bond well to plastic. Krylon Fusion plastic paint, for example, does not make a matte/flat navy/dark blue color. I DO intend to sand the panels before painting, even if I use a paint that claims to work well without sanding. Also, beyond specific paint help, if anyone has any additional tips/tricks/advice about the method, please share! Thanks,

What about painting the color you want and then use a matte clear on top? You are correct in saying fusion does not have many matte colors but they do have flat clear and a satin clear. I have not used it but that might get you the finish you want.

Go to a car paint store, and have them make you a few cans of your color in basecoat. It will give you that exact same finish.

Unless you plan to sand through the clearcoat and the original paint all the way down to the plastic, using a paint that is made for plastic isn't really an issue. I have used many different rattle-can paints to paint scoots and prefer Rustoleum brand...
