Well, the 2t gods seem to have gone a bit cold recently (found some but they're all really far away) so we have another 4t flip here! It's a 2011 GMW R1. I am a fan of the R1 scoots- I really like their body style. A bunch of moons ago when my ol' Baccio scoot got stolen I found a scoot like this for sale on CL and the darned fake looking 4t "expansion chamber" pipe had me fooled and I was about to drive an hour away to check it out. Luckily, my eagle eyed and wise comrades here at 49ccscoot set me straight before I headed out the door. Well, now here one sits in my garage! Half tempted to weld a danged Minarelli under there and make this one sexy scoot!
Ok ok- back to reality! I picked up this slightly neglected scoot from my usual place- Craigslist of course!- for $250. It has some cosmetic issues but it does run!
I'm a fan of large-framed scooters and boy is this a large one! It's just as big as the other two large 49cc scoots that I can think of- the Baccio VX50 and the Roketa AIR R50- both of which I just happened to have sitting here in the garage until about a week ago. The VX50 is sold, but I'm still holding on to my "Large and in charge" AIR50!
Dang- the idea of dropping a 2t under this bad boy is more and more appealing hehe.
Ok, she's a 2011 with 3,493 miles according to the Chinometer and right off the bat I had to spend more $$ on it before I even got it home. It has a bad battery so I stopped off at Walmart on my way back home with it and bought yet another $26 Walmart special.
I should just keep a stock Ever Start photo and just copy and paste it into every flip thread where I buy one haha.
We established that the scoot starts up and runs ok, but of course I'll do my usual and pluck the engine out and get her up on the 'operating table' for a thorough go-through and valve adjustment and oil change. The cosmetics on this scoot could be a little better- not the easy cosmetic lay-ups I've gotten lucky with on some of the other late-model 4t flips. I can see already that I'll need to hunt down a new lense for the dash display. Hope it's not too expensive! Ok, on with the pics!!
Hopefully I can get her to look a little more like this when I'm finished!
