Yeah... Except she wanted it pink. A couple short talks later we settled on black or grey. Mostly me settling on I have to ride it to tune it. But it should look good either way. She's got a pink helmet anyway. Ordering a temp and rpm gauge before I mess with further. Plus fabing a cylinder head cover out of thick facia flashing from work. After that it's on!

Just a little update... Built another cover out of facia flashing to keep the temps down while I tune. Big black box. Pics later. You know just In case. Because I still don't have a title transfered, or registration, or a temp gauge, or a current plate, or fairings, or blinkers, tail light, the list goes on. But I'll be dammed if I just let the current build sit in my garage without knowing its...somewhat potential! Anyway I usually take my yammy for a spin to make sure the coast is clear. Not today folks. Anyway no sad story behind that to report. That's just what I do. Safety precautions. Scooters are only supposed to go 30mph max around here. By law. I did get it up to 40mph (speedo) before I let off which is currently where my power band starts to pull. Just from previous experience with the Athena pipe. Still break in period remind you. Current roller weights of 5.7 g's. Which seems to be to heavy. Ordering 4 g's soon as I'm done here. Take off is way too slow for me. And it feels like the corsa still needs to break itself in a little before I start to hammer it. Main jet still the 110 as recommended previously. Carb could use a little fine tuning I'm sure. Fricken scooter addiction. I'm telling you! And mail.....

Took everybody's advice. Gave the HF wire back. Picked up some home Depot wire. Decided not to practice due to material on hand. Wasn't the greatest beads. But I got an A frame welded up. Plan on mounting motor tommorrow. .035 is usable but with the little 90amper it's better to use .030 E71-T Flux Core wire NOT NRS-211. the 71 is all position wire where as the 211 is only G-1(Flat) & G-2(Horizontal). IDK what anyone else says about 211 being all position, it's not! I've got 20+ years in Welding and metal fabrication under my belt and too many Welding Certifications too count. That and ask anyone that was in the North Ridge Quake in '96 and they'll tell u no 211. For thinner, non virgin metal, like on a scooter (18-14 gauge) if you can , put a wire wheel on 4" grinder and clean the area you're going to weld. Sorry this probably too little too late but go to a Welding supply store and get your wire not HD. Might as well kept the HF stuff if your going that route. Just take 6pack of beer with you or ask for a employee discount.

Thanks Clank. I will take that into consideration. Good info to know down the line. I was in that quake, if your talking about the 7.1 in the bay area. Yeah I used a grinder with a wheel and just grazed it for a cleaner surface. I'll have to look up welding supply out here in oregon. There was a good little welding store back in San jose.

Clank I'm in Wilsonville. It's about 15 minutes south of Portland. And 25 from Washington border. Airgas... Got it! Should I ask?

Finally got around to snapping a pic of the head shroud I made out of flashing. Kind of bulky but, guaranteed to work better than a stock shroud. I'd imagine due to heat transference. Anyway just trying to get this 70cc to run as cool as possible.

Also painted all the fairings primer grey today. We didn't really match the exact pink paint that's on her helmet anyway. So... I couldn't go wrong with the primer I put on it. Now I atleast feel a little manlier about spinning it around the block for tune. Who knows maybe she'll either be one bad ass scooter mamma or want it professionally painted to match her helmet. We'll see....

Ordered two denso spark plugs and a tto rpm/hour gauge tonight. Hopefully the 4 gram roller weights I ordered off eBay should get here this week. And maybe I get back out into the garage tomorrow. Put all the blinkers, lights, fairings, temp on. Take mommas hog for a real spin.

Sweet! Digging the custom cooling shroud. Hope it works out for ya! Love tuning with a CHT gauge. Don't know how I ever lived without it!

Sweet! Seems that thing should rip with that light little spree frame. You got a dragster there! I've read- and tend to agree in my experience- that 300-320 degrees is about right for these air cooled cylinders. To me it seems that if it's a lot less than that then you're running a bit rich and leaving power on the table. I've pushed the high end of CHT temps enough times to know it seems that trouble only really starts at around 400... IDK if others agree with this, but it 320 or so has treated me well!

I agree... Just so fresh of a cylinder. And I haven't attempted to run it wot for a long period of time. Due to not knowing exactly what rpms I'm reaching. Dude... Niz this scooter is so light. It's gonna rip.... My Athena exhaust rides really low, light scraping. So I either have to jack the shock up. Or order a longer one. But I'm very curious to the combination I have between cylinder, exhaust, and carb.... Installed painted black wheel and cvt about 5 minutes ago. It looks raw. I'm definetley gonna have to take your advice on a new seat cover from wal mart. Only have a hammer tacker but it will pretty much staple into anything non metal. Pics soon. Other than that just waiting on lighter rollers and tto tach. We will find out.
