DILEMA....... Still waiting on 4 gram rollers in the mail. That's not the DILEMA. This is.... Got an tto tach on it now. Powerband kicks in hard at 7000 rpms. But at 45mph I'm already hitting 10,600 on a stock crank. I didn't push it any farther for that reason. But it feels like it has more, but of coarse at a higher rpm. What do I do? 5.7 gram rollers are my lightest. That's what's in it now. Take off is so slow. If I put 3.5 or 4 grams in I'm sure my rpms will jump with it. What's a real Mina engine from the 1990's rated for anyway. I heard and we've recently discussed 10,500 being the limit. Is it absolutely necessary to install a racing crank?

I say find out just how much the stock crank can handle. Then buy a racing crank.

Is the belt sitting deep onto the drive boss between the two vari faces? If not, shimming the boss (making it longer with washers) could help takeoff tremendously!

Finding out how much the stock crank can handle in the field could be expensive. But I'm definitely willing to push it. And, I haven't even studied how to split the cases and press the crank and new bearings in enough to attempt that yet. It's probably not to hard of a project I can imagine. Yeah Niz I'll have to take a look at that tomorrow. It definitely feels like it's starting in 9th gear. What if I put in a stronger contra spring will that prolong my upper rpm range. Currently I'm using a yellow 1500. Its making power right at 10,000 rpm. This Athena kicks like a mule. Looks identical to the stage6pro. By tunningmatters 70cc exhaust test graph it's powerband resembles the pro. There's gotta be a reasonable cvt combination I can try to keep it under 11,000. Any advice from the pro's is very appreciated.

4 gram rollers came in today. A lot better take off. Belt sits on the boss nicely.. Mid range is slacking. Have to recheck needle position out when I can. 7000 comes around. BLAM.....great powerband. Actually have to back off the throttle and try to keep it around 9000 which is still great acceleration. I think once I fix this seat and get her tail light and longer brake cable. She'll actually like this scoot.

Clip was 2nd notch down. I must have let it go to try it out. Richend it up with the clip on the bottom. Played with the mixture screw. Got midrange a lot better. Still think I need to drop the roller weight down a gram each to 3 grams or 3.5. We'll see. Launches hard. And powerband kicks in hard. Just need to marry the two and this will be a decent ride.

Yeah once I get a hoca variator, new full circle crank, and some clutch springs it should do alright. If I had to guess I'd say right now I'm at 50mph at 10,000 rpms only 3/4 throttle.

Got the stock speedo cluster dialed in. Swapped the stock intake for the stage 6. Hoping to reduce the rpms a tad for the stock crank. Cut a section of the new frame support for the carburetor to fit at a angle. Welded in another piece of steel for piece of mind. Didn't get around to the back brake yet but will definetley need a mod for it to operate. And dug out a old smart phone I had for video purposes. Low video quality but I might have to submit a 70cc 55mph on the scoot speed list before I save up enough money to install a racing crank.

Pulled the engine. Stripped in down to split the cases for the new crank I ordered this morning. Still have to order a steering wheel puller and bearings. Last bolt holding the cases together got stripped. Phillips head. probably throw some hex heads in there to prevent it from happening again. About a week or two out.

Thinking about getting the Athena crank bearing set but it has the blue seals that you guys said leak. Is the Doppler bearings better? And where do I get a new rear axle bearing from? Here's the crank I bought for $139 free shipping. Supposedly good for 16,000 rpms.

Look in their liquidation section. www.scoot-tuning.com/LIQUIDATION-s/147.htm

Thanks spaz. Didn't even know they had a liquidation section. Some decent pricing there. The polini variator for $50 is tempting.... But I didn't see any crank bearings. Might pick up a new 3 shoe clutch cause the original minarelli came with a 2 shoe and 2 springs just ain't cutting it.
