I feel like I let you down only 72? there is definitely more I got blocked by a van. I balanced my wheels and it actually feels good at speed now. I would seriously be happy with 72. It's so irritating that I could smoke a 150 up to about 50 and then it was all over. 72-75 would make me very happy indeed! Oh i wouldn't! When a basic 70cc like mine can do 70 than his must be able to do 80 at least.

It's alive after a short hibernation. A little rewind my compression was a little low and I was having a little rattle that I found the source to be excessive piston to cylinder clearance. This set was mismatched from the factory. When new my ring gap was larger then spec, got a replacement and still the same. I just ran it anyway. I have a "C" piston to give me the clearance I was after. I thought it was a beast before. It will wipe that smile right off your face. You can see the imprint of the ports on the piston from rocking. I had about .008" in excess clearance.

That first picture is cool with the 2T smoke passing the headlights The piston still looks really good and hardly any signs of blowby. I've only pulled my cylinder out of the box once to look at it, I guess that I should pull it out again to measure it so that I'm not caught off guard. Thanks for the post.

I never really thought to check piston to cylinder fit, I've always checked ring gap and never really thought more about it. All is good now

Ryan, For my education, what is the desired piston to cylinder clearance on that LC nikasil setup?I want to compare it to an old school iron liner jug of that size.. Thanks, John

This is set about .0019" I suppose cast you could go tighter but that's where I wound up at trying to fill the gap Malossi left me.

I will say it still has al bit more clearance as the corsa on my elite. That one is very tight. So I would say cast would likely run tighter... Edit Eh probably not as they run hotter. I wasn't thinking this morning

The iron stuff runs a bit more than that due to dissimilar metal expansion rates.Guess thats why nikasil is the best for hyper race stuff.I know its a better system, but always look at the old school cylinders I was using back in the day!!

Just lossem water hoses at the pump and push them toward the engine and they will seep air!!!! And after those two do the hose out of the cylinder head the same way!! Also I set my iggy at TDC then. Adjusted it to how I like and it works great but I think I ended up with .45mm BTDC... I have a diff stroke than you of course.... It's supper ez to install and set up!!!! So piston TDC, stator plate in center and align notch on rotor with lower arrow? And set timing from there... I have mine set off the top line (11 o'clock) on the orange inner magnet. Am I doing this wrong or what? It starts first kick the way it is. This stuff is all new to me so try and dumb it down for me if i'm doing something wrong.

Use the 11 o'clock position. The arrows point to the direction of rotation. Even though it will start either way.
