"Pardom me sir, would you have any Grey Poupon?" Hi all! I was supposed to get this build thread up a few days ago but got a lil' busy. Better late than never! Ok, this was supposed to be a grand slam home run buy that a fellow member- Florida Antique- pointed out to me, but alas- I guess if the old adage held true; If it seems to good to be true it probably is! The seller was selling this supposedly titled 2002 2t Malaguti Yesterday for $200! Said it needed a cylinder rebuild... This scoot wasn't on my radar as it's a little out of my "farming area"- a 2+ hour drive up to Gainsville. After multiple calls to the seller and asking and being reassured multiple times that this scoot had a title, I made the drive up to Gainsville. Well, to make a long story short- there was no title. Oh ya, you can bet I was a bit peeved. This was a college aged kid selling the scoot for a roommate who was out of town. The scoot came with a folder stuffed full of paperwork. Like, every single paper imaginable from the original sale (It was bought by a dealership and put up as a prize for a raffle, which the PO won, and the dealership transferred ownership into his name.) Every single paper imaginable- except the title!! Like I said, this was supposed to be a grand slam home run. A $200 scoot that needed a little engine work that could be easily re-sold for 1k or more... *sigh* I'll try to make a few phone calls and secure the title- I'm even considering using the motorecyclenow.com service. Like I told the kid that night when I bought it "I have little faith that I'll ever get that title after I leave here tonight." In the end I offered him $150 bux, he accepted, and I loaded the scoot up! Now for some pics of this sexy, smoke breathing, classy, high end, Italian made Malaguti! Lilly says: "This friggin guy with his scooters... *eye roll* " Lol.

Freaking awesome, beautiful scooter! That was quite a find.
I would imagine through the title company that you'll have little to no problem getting a good, valid title.
Wow what a find

You mean the certificate of origin is not the title, I've been there before. You can actually get the Vermont registration without the title company. It's only $44 if you do it yourself. All the info is on vermont a website.

Man that thing is a BEAUT! I think I am going to be hating life when you get that cleaned up and get the title for it! Have you looked at the engine yet? Is it missing the cylinder rebuild stick?

Interesting design. Does it actually have a spare tire or is that just a storage compartment? Would be nice for scoot adventures if it indeed carries a spare or can fit one in there with a few tools.

Thanks fellas! It really is a beautiful scoot. While doing some research and watching a few vids on youtube everyone seems to talk about this scoot as if it's the best thing since sliced bread. It may very well be worth my time and effort to secure the title. Thanks for the tip ryan_ott. That spare tire holder in the back is actually fake. It's a storage compartment. Can't really take it off though since the rear signals are integrated into it- not that I would! I also read that the seat extension- that rear part that goes over the luggage rack is a $90 add on part!

Taking a little sandwich break now... Wow! No wonder this thing boasts a 2+ gallon fuel capacity (9 liters)- Look at that tank! I got the engine up on the ol' operating table... Well, Florida Antique- I see the "cylinder stick" is actually in great shape! lol I didn't find anything wrong with the cylinder at all. Was actually in great shape. Not a scratch to be found. I cleaned it up a bit and gave it the 'hand hone' with 220 grit and put her back together the way I usually do- no base gasket and no head gasket... I actually did swap the stock head out for one I had laying around with a kinda stock/squish combo to it. It's like a squish style head but not quite as agressive and high compression I guess is how I'd describe it. Gotta say this engine is super clean! Only 446 original kilometers on this scoot. That's like only 200 miles! How clean is it? Well, I hate to be cliche, buuutttt.... Yep u got it- clean enough to eat off of! lol
