Nice find. That beats the prices I'm used to seeing by a long shot.

I got the transmission cleaned up from the belt shredding and did a little mod to the tq driver to let it open a bit farther. Stock tq driver. Modded tq driver. I went out for about 50 miles, but it's so windy that I can't tell anything. Tomorrow it's supposed to rain and be windy.

I'm interested to see how this works out for you. Been thinking about playing with my torque driver like this.

The only thing I noticed so far is that it's a little boggy like it's shifting easier. Unfortunately, I did a new belt/washer setup and this mod at the same time. I think it's the tq driver though, because it even seemed a little easier to squeeze open when I installed the belt. That could just be from a freshly cleaned and greased driver, or it could be because I made sure the whole path was smooth when I finished elongating the paths.

I have been thinking about this too. That adjustable NYC torque driver looks good for $35. EDIT: Im always into a free do it myself mod

I'm considering the NCY driver too, but I wanted to see what could be easily achieved for no cash with the stocker and I had to pull stuff apart to clean up belt dust anyhow.

Like carb tuning,CVT tuning requires time and thought, Sharing our works (good or bad)helps others improve their scoots also!

Did you notice if the TD pulley is hitting the clutch plate when it opens? I was reading more about TD mods that people have tried at scooterinvasion and they said that the TD pulley was hitting the backplate of the clutch limiting "high gear" belt travel. This was remedied by shaving about .5mm off of the top of the driver were the oil seal is. I believe you have to recess the area were the seal seats or trim the seal to make it fit right after you shave a bit off. One person suggested shaving the TD with the seal still in, another person reported a leak (TD?) after a long WOT run. It supposed to rain here all day and all i have to do is knock the bearing races out of some chopper wheels. I think i will try this mod out too.
Brent, when you smoothed or straightened the TD channels you did make it shift easier. They were talking about that also. The straighter the channel in the driver the more it acts like a close ratio trans, you might try your 1500 spring again with this mod?

I checked clearances before I ever modded anything. I made sure the spring still had room to compress more and nothing was making contact other than the pin with the end of the groove. I could still go farther with no contact, but I don't wanna get any closer to that grease seal.
I thought about the 1500RPM spring, but that has always seemed like such a severe change in the past. I am going to drop the roller weight by 0.5g to start, then another .5g if necessary. If that doesn't work as I'd like, I'll probably go back to my current weight and try the 1500RPM contra.

cool so you didnt have to shave anything off the TD were the big seal is inside the TD? It wont open and hit the clutch plate? Good, that means less work for me, that is if mines the same way? I wouldnt get any closer to that o-ring eighter.

I really didn't change anything but those paths. I can open the pulley with the clutch installed and get the same measurement. The only thing that was difficult at all was getting the dremel bit to reach the lower portion of that groove because of the lip on the pulley.

I'm not so sure that this mod is doing anything for me. In theory it should work. In practice, it's about the same as it was. I'm using a 1500RPM contra with 7.5g rollers right now. It was doing 58MPH on a quick trip in my normal tuning area where I usually get about the same speed in that distance. The heavier rollers make it feel more solid down low, but it's not really faster. It's a bit sluggish till 15-20 but it revs fairly high up top. I think I need a 1,250RPM contra or something. Maybe just more time or a day that's not windy so I can tell more. We've had stupid winds here for the last week. Some guy got killed on a sailboat nearby yesterday, when they said 35-45MPH winds capsized it.
