Just got one of these its my first ever minnerelli based scooters so there new me,I've cleaned the carb and gas tank and still will not start,it will try too start but won't stay running not even for 2 seconds, any idea on what the issue can be? Seller said he was having same issue he was not a scooter mechanic in any stretch of the imagination, oil tank has oil in it just don't understand why it won't turn over? Also where is the cdi located at I have all plastics off except the front by the light??

I'm not sure about the Yamati, but on my Triton which is the same body style the CDI was bolted to the frame on the right side just behind the seat/before the gas tank.
Compression?

Yeah also thinking now that the person before the guy I bought it from ran it with no oil,I get a weird burnt smell on plug end that was on the scooter,I'm gonna take off the cylinder and see what's going on,also there is no cdi behind the seat, none what's so ever,I know I'm not going crazy!!

Possibly the PO took the CDI off? The CDI should be on the right side of the frame under the panel.
Is the airbox still attached?

Burnt smells are never a good thing, keep us posted on that top end. At least parts are cheap & easy to find vs the morini makesure to bleed/prime oil pump if it was dry., if you have spark you got a cdi.lol.

Maybe the cdi and coil are one unit.

It wont run much without the airbox. Find one, put it on and try again before you go to the trouble to tear the top end off.

Have you tried putting your hand over the carb. Your getting too much air and lean w/o the air box. Some Yamati's have a different Mina then the norm. Makes them great for 90+ cc builds but you'll be pressed to find a 70. Take some pics and measurements of the cylinder when you pull it.

My scoot is a Eurostrada RX8 but not a Yamati. What's the engine code by the shock?

I'd upload mine but I threw it away. It's kind of an ashy color. I imagine old gas sitting in the cylinder would actually evaporate out the exhaust, leaving just oil. I'd definitely be looking at a compression check
