Didn't get as much done tonight as I'd have liked. Picked up my old Let's engine, gave it a quick hone, new rings, new gaskets, cleaned out oil pump. Should have it ready to go tomorrow night if I get a free hour. Might take it down tomorrow and see if I can get the split in the kickstarter boss welded up so it's not electric start only. Also about to order a new clutch for my Let's, 110mm clutch should play nicely with a 112mm bell right? Only option I'm finding listed for Suzuki is the 112mm bell. The clutch and bell sound about right, although I've never actually measured the clearance.

Managed to get a few hours in the shed after dinner tonight. Got the engine back together, not going to win any prizes for being clean or anything haha Drained the 2t oil tank and gave it a good clean out Engine back in, a good splash of 2t oil in the fuel, stock oil pump bled and primed too. Took minimal cranking and it fired right up, quickly filled the shed with lovely blue smoke from the liberally oiled crank bearings and rings. Had to take it for a test run, went easy on it for maybe 20 minutes to let the rings bed in, then opened it up Think slightly lighter rollers, a size bigger MJ and even a stock style pipe with a bit more flow would open it right up! This engine/variator combo would push close to 75k using the mangled stock Let's II pipe, but thinking about it the first thing I did to the Let's was go up to 3.50 tyres, this is still down on 3.00. Going to chuck a lightbar like I've got on my Let's on this blue one, stock lights are abysmal!! But as it's already worlds ahead of the SJ50QT in terms of acceleration, top speed and handling etc I'm happy enough with it... For now...

Are you missing a bolt on the carb intake? 3rd picture from top.

Looks like it from that angle, but there's an extra hole that a mudguard attaches to

Have over 50k on the new engine now, still running mint as! We spent the arvo just riding around with the AZ and my Let's, if it keeps going as it is now I'm thinking we'll be selling the SJ50 sooner than later. Before we left I changed 3 of the 3.9g rollers out for 4.2g ones in the Let's, the 3.9g Naraku rollers are trashed after no time so I'll be ordering some better quality ones when I order the new clutch. Also decided to run it without the side cover to see if getting some airflow would help my take off issues Has made a world of difference!! Wheelies at every take off now But I'm thinking better clutch with higher engagement, slightly heavier rollers to bring the shift point down a couple hundred RPM and it should be even more fun haha Annoyingly discovered that on the AZ50 Suzuki slightly altered the seat base, helmets will fit under the seat on the blue one while mines left padlocked to the carrier. So yeah at the moment I'm about to order the 101Octane Evolution Racing 110mm adjustable clutch And I'm trying to decided between these 2 bells Then once I file my taxes next month I should be able to start building up another engine! /Buy a Jog or Piaggio Zip and have more go fast parts available

Nice clutch. I'd go with the 2nd bell. Got the cooling ribs and it says cnc. Might be lighter.

Agree with overse. First bell seems to be welded but the 2nd bell seems to be made out of one piece.

Ended up ordering the second bell along with that clutch. They arrived this AM and I went to fit them tonight R-P sent me the wrong 2000rpm contra spring, it's too big to fit. New bell has a 16t spline, my stock is 10t so yeah that doesn't fit. 110mm clutch doesn't fit in a 110mm bell either haha So decided I'd leave the new clutch fitted and get my old boss to take a 1mm skim out of the stock bell on the lathe tomorrow so it'd at least work. At this point the neighbour got home and called out and we chatted over the fence for 30 minutes or so which was long enough to distract me from what I was doing... I went to put the scooter away and without even thinking I fired it up to ride it into the shed Yeap, I'm an idiot After cleaning all the shrapnel out of the variator etc I refited the stock clutch, did a few stress releasing doughnuts and put it back in the shed until I can refind my enthusiasm.

Oh shit man! Anything else damaged? Just a few little chips out of the variator cover as far as I can see, so was lucky really. I will say I don't think I'll go for the same clutch again either, looking at the pieces it's evident how cheaply made it was, bad casting, flimsy pressed steel parts etc -not saying that had anything at all to do with how it exploded, just that I'm not too keen on another one!

So my like new HiT arrived this morning. Came fitted with red clutch springs and red pillow springs, fitted it to my scooter and went for a test ride, decent improvement but it wasn't locking as hard as I'd like. Swapped the red pillows out for softer pink ones, much firmer lock up now, pulls the front wheel up easy if I get take off right. Clutch is engaging too early though, need to find some stronger clutch springs as it's engaging at just below 4000rpm and it's coming on pipe somewhere closer to 4500-5000. Disengages at about 3750rpm when slowing down. It's annoying I can't get a decent bell to suit my scooter, the HiT clutch is narrower than what I was running, I've got 2 different narrow bells but one goes nowhere near far enough over the clutch, the other leaves a couple mm of the shoes exposed, the bell I'm using is twice the width of the shoes.

The HIT clutch is a very good one and can bite hard. Remove the pillow springs if you want her to bite strong. The stiffer the pillow springs the more she slips. My clutch pads also come out maybe 1-2mm from the bell but no problems at all. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/11047/jog-mania?page=65

tsimi I'll give it a try without the pillows once I get the engagement RPM dialled in. I'm assuming the HiT springs are the basic Jog springs rather than a specific size just for Dr Pulley, the spring packaging that came with mine says "Jog +60%". /Need to find a source of decent quality springs that don't have an excessive shipping cost ha. Even with engagement lower than I'd like the clutch seems to be a really decent upgrade. After as decent bit of riding the bell is only Luke warm to the touch, with the old stock one it was rather hot from slipping.
