I wish this would be a good report, but the install has been a real headache! After fabing a flange to spigot adapter, the carb barely fit.The throttle cable would not pull the slide up all the way,so I had to mod it to make that work.Had to drill a spot for the oil injection jet.Wanted to use the stock airbox cause I had some poor results with the stock carb and airbox mods. Made a joggle bracket and fabed a new hose for the stock airbox ,but first I tried running it with no airbox,After changing jets, needle settings, etc,it still would never get on the pipe!So I installed the airbox, was somewhat better, but the stock carb was much better.I rolled her back in the shop with tools scattered everywhere and a feeling that I wasted a lot of hours for nothing! Dang it! Did you try jetting? If so, that didnt help? I have been looking for a carb like that. Sorry no luck yet, keep yer head up.

I know the feeling. There's nothing so disappointing as putting that much effort into something and going backwards. Did you mod the intake at all? Is it a 22mm carb still running into a 17-19mm intake? Maybe just port matching would help there so at least it's not hitting a wall? Not really sure what to tell you. Port matching may be a bad idea. If you can't get this carb working right for you, then the port is larger than your stock carb.

The intake matched the adapter very well. Its just a matter of taking time to sort out each phase of the carb jetting and it should be a 'runner'.I'm thinking of ordering that uni type foam filter ya'll have mentioned and living with the intake honk.Do ya think it would take more effort to rejet it with a foamy?I've learned a scoot is the most difficult 2 stroke to tune of any!!

The foam filter has been just as easy to rejet with as my K&N filter. I never really messed with jetting with the stock airbox. If I was gonna spend a little money, I'd get the Motoforce free-flow airbox. It's supposed to be quiet and still flow plenty. www.spmotostore.com/RACING_AIRBOX_MOTOFORCE_p/mf18.00220.htm

Hope you get it tuned in. I went up a ton in main size when i put the foam on. I tried to put the k&N clone back on the other day and it ran bad, even jetted for it. I go from a 8? main K&N clone, to a 100 main foam filter. Thats a huge jump!

I worked on the jetting a bit tonight and I see how touchy a scoot is!I knew my main was lean,so I picked up the needle a notch and made a big differance..Next time I'll go up on the main and do the needle hop again. Thanks for the input guys!!

Sweet, progress! I've said many times that even 1 jet size, like from a 100 to a 102, can make a big difference. Some things hardly show any difference jumping multiple sizes.

I've ordered the red foam filter.Had a bit of time to work on her tonight, getting closer, still need a little richer main and it should be right. My jet selection sucks,,have 40 years worth of Amal, Bing,Delorto,Holley,Keihin,Mikuni,Rochester,,so I'm using anything with 6X1mm thread and jet drills to check sizing.I see that Mikuni #'s are 'flow' and read that there is a wide variation in the sizing. Guess I should order a jet kit,but like most of us $3.50 a jet is over the budget.Any of ya'll have a lead for some 6X1mm thread jet kits from about .035" to .050"?It came with a 100,120 is too lean, now have a 105 Keihin(.039")installed and it feels like a few sizes bigger will do it. Thanks, John

Since you've got drills, why not just drill the jets and solder/re-drill if necessary to save a little dough. I dunno anywhere to get really cheap jet kits.
