I know 2strokd and Bob are Mustang owners (I've worked on Bob's car before when it belonged to another friend), and so am I, so post 'em up. I know I've posted pics of mine before, and it's on hotrod-hell.net, but this seemed like a good idea. Anyone else here own a Mustang? Let's see 'em. Here's mine. 1990 GT Convertible Turbo 331 Stroker 402HP/470TQ essentially on 7 cylinders, and with a blown head gasket, running very hot.

After seeing your dyno graph I was reminded of an interesting mishap I will now share. Immediately after turboing my 510 in '78, beaming with pride, I just had to go show it off to one of my buds. He and his brother were heavy into cars and motorcycles and drag racing so I knew they could appreciate my handiwork. My Datsun was parked on the side of the street out in front of his house and I was revving the beast for their benefit. Unfortunately my handiwork turned out to be not so handy because the throttle return spring slipped loose and zing... you know what happened. WOT with unlimited boost (no controls). For some stupid reason I had about every key I had ever owned hanging on my key ring and when I, in panic, thrust my hand to the ignition switch to turn it off they all balled up like so many interfering fingers hanging on anything they could to prevent me from switching off my ignition. In fact it took at least three attempts and close to three seconds to kill the motor. The boost probably hit at least 30 psi, I didn't get a chance to look at the gage of course. Anyway, replacing two scorched pistons, eliminating about 15 keys and positively securing the return spring put me back to grinning at being pressed into the seat back when that baby spooled up. It was really kind of embarrassing. I've always wanted to see a dyno sheet from that resounding 8000 rpm brain fart. ;D

That really sucks Reg. I've got a wastegate keepin' my boost to a measly 9psi. I could go more, but I need it tuned. Pistons melt pretty fast in the right conditions, huh? A friend of mine just melted 2 pistons in under a second when he forgot to retard the timing on the 2nd stage of nitrous. Oops. Luckily he has plenty of cheddar, so he's ditching the nitrous and going with a 2000HP capable twin 80 to 88mm turbo setup on his 428W. I talked to him yesterday and told him what Bob was doin' to his car with the suspension. He said go fast or go home, forget that crap. lol His car is a track only ride and he has little patience for anything that isn't riddiculously fast. My car is slow to him... but he's also running 130-140MPH in the 1/8 mile.

I used to think 4 eyed stangs were ugly, but they grew on me. They're cool in a way now just because they're rare. Everyone wants to convert to the aero front end so they're becoming less and less common. The only thing that really sucks about 4 eyes around me, is that there are only 2 nice ones but both are black GT's with Weld Rodlites and 4" cowl hoods and I assume Flowmasters. Both are manual transmissions even. Short of remembering tag numbers or some other detail, I can't really tell 'em apart until I see the driver. Step, he was saying it's either big block & nitrous or fuel injected turbo small block to keep up with the guys he wants to run with. He's already got one nasty small block (almost hate to call a 428 a small block, but it is a windsor design) and twin turbo setups are just evil. There's nothing like seeing a big air to water intercooler where a passenger seat should be and those massive tubes supplying boost from 2 80+mm turbos. One 80+mm turbo is amazing as far as I'm concerned, but he said he'd prob be looking at 106mm if he were to get a single. The problem with that is lag. You can get two steps, transbrakes, and converters to eliminate lag on the holeshot. The problem is that running 1300HP or more to the rear wheels on a set of 315 drag radials means pedaling. When you pedal a big turbo like that it's gonna lag a bit unless you have something monstrous (once again, I kinda hate to say his motor isn't) under the hood. Doing 1/8 mile in the 4 second range every little bit of lag is a big deal. At any rate, I can't wait to see this thing. I haven't been to the track with him since it ran 9 second quarters on motor. he tried a single stage a few times when I was around. That was bad enough. It would leave out hard and pull the wheels a little (no transbrake then) and he'd hit the juice at aroudn 60ft. Then you'd see flames shoot out of the exahust (and no I wasn't dreaming of The Fast & The Furious) and it would pull the front tires a foot or better of the ground. That was probably 400RWHP or more, less than the new setup. Here's his car on one of it's first outings on motor... vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=14047958

Here are a couple of Bob's car... before it was Bob's car...
vs. a 7.3 Powerstroke...
vs. Bob on his old RF600R...
Not a Mustang, but a cool Ford project of Bob's. I got to lend a hand on this one quite a bit. Pretty fun swap. I'm in the Mazda that took him off the line (that's right Bob, the Mazda got a holeshot on the big bad 351W and I won't let you forget it)...
