Hello, everyone. I am from Latvia and we have one of the most active scooter tuning communities in Europe. You have some very different stuff than we do in the EU, so it's interesting to look through this forum. Anyway, I want to share my scooter with you.
This summer I traded my old 1996 MBK Spirit ( Yamaha Zuma in the USA) for this nice Malaguti F12.
I got it with no carburetor. I quickly bought a generic 18mm carburetor and it was running very nice.
As you can see it looks a bit rough. The previous owner did a terrible paint job on it. One of my first goals for this scooter was to repaint it.
This scooter has a nice list of aftermarket parts. Both visually and from the performance aspect.
The stuntbar on it is actually really nice.
About a month later I decided that it was time to paint this thing. My plan was to paint it red with white rims.
This scooter has been repainted about 4 times, so it was really, really tough to get off the old paint.
As you can see, the part has a large amount of scuffs and scratches. It was all fixed with glassfibre filler.
Unfortunately school started and I didn't have any time to finish painting the body parts. All of the parts except for the front one have been primed and ready for painting.
Anyway, even though school had started, I still wanted to drive around and I did just that. I drove around without any body parts.
The scooter is still in the state as in the picture above. I plan to paint all the plastics and put them on when spring starts ( Late March - early April).
Last week I inspected the transmission and found this.
The clutch is in terrible condition. I thought that it was weird that sometimes the scooter had fast acceleration, but sometimes the RPM's were high, but the scooter didn't move as it should.
So I bought this.
I'm going to put it in, when I finish putting all the body parts. It will be around Spring.
We have cold and snowy winters, that's the reason I'm going to do all this stuff in Spring.
This is the scooter I had before and I traded it for the F12.
The reason I traded it is because I'm quite tall and the MBK Spirit was too small for me. Also, parts for Minarelli Vertical engines were available only new and as a 16 year old, I have limited funds.
The setup for my Malaguti F12.
It has a Minarelli Horizontal engine
Chinese 70cc iron cylinder
Stage6 piston with rings
Stock crankshaft ( I think )
Stock clutch with motoforce blue springs
Top Performance variator with 4.3G rollers and Stage6 red spring
Polini belt
Next-R exhaust with LeoVince ZX muffler
Teikei 18mm carburettor with 82 Main Jet ( It's too rich, need to get a different jet)
Stock small air filter box with sport air filter.
STR8 handlebar
STR8 brake lever grips
Aprilia SR50 1gen rear rim
Aprilia SR50 2gen front rim
I don't do any stunts because there are no rear brakes at the moment. But I'll fix them for sure.
The top speed I was able to get out of this thing was 58MPH, with a new clutch and proper jetting, I think I can get it up to 62MPH-65MPH
I hope you like my project.
I would appreciate if at least one guy posts his project in my country's forum. There is a dedicated international zone, so check it out.
