So I have this 2003 Qianjiang 2 stroke (Vento zipR3i clone) out in the garage that I got for a dollar off a guy who just wanted to get rid of it after it quit running at 6000 mi. It's been sitting in pieces for a couple of years out there now after I found out the problem with it. The wrist bearing disintegrated and ruined the piston. The head is quite pitted too from the metal debris that was in there. The cylinder has some grooves in it as well but not that deep. Pics below. I want to get it running and sell it for as little cost to me as possible and I have a few questions: You think I can reuse the head if I buff it a little? (Pic below) How much can you hone a cylinder wall and still use a stock piston/rings? Should I just get a new top end complete? If so, where's the best deal? Also, The front shocks are gone. Real squishy. Can they be rebuilt? They are the "Upside down" type. I just want it to run and drive so I can make 4 or 500 dollars off it. It doesn't have to be a rocket. Some jerk smashed both the mirrors' glass before I got it: The same jerk smashed the speedo lens too: The remains: The piston actually has one of the rollers from the wrist bearing fused into it. That's what made the grooves in the cylinder wall:

You think I can reuse the head if I buff it a little? As long as you make sure there is no loose debris that will fall into the cylinder and nothing protruding down toward the piston you could use it as is. It wouldn't be ideal, but it should work. How much can you hone a cylinder wall and still use a stock piston/rings? I don't really know. You can hone it as much as will allow you to keep reasonable ring end gap. Should I just get a new top end complete? If so, where's the best deal? That really depends if the cylinder is salvageable. You may be able to find a good deal on eBay. Sometimes people sell their old top ends when they do BBKs. Also, The front shocks are gone. Real squishy. Can they be rebuilt? They are the "Upside down" type. They could just be low on oil. Use a 40W fork oil and fill 'em up. Some folks just use motor oil. If that's not it, the springs inside may be beat. I wouldn't think they'd be terribly expensive if you needed them. Check vento.com if you do need them and cant find them elsewhere. Considering all that damage to the pin and piston, you might wanna take a close look at the conrod. If that's screwed up you'd have to split the cases to replace the crankshaft.

Thanks! I really didn't want to buy a new head. I'll check the forks out closer. I searched high and low on the web an can't find any replacements for them. The connecting rod looks pristine. The motor never actually seized up. When I got it I kicked it and there was still compression believe it or not so I figured carburetor. I cleaned the carb and kicked it for 15 minutes before I realized it was hopeless and tore it apart. Con Rod:

I'm ready to order the parts for my scooter but I don't know where to order them from. I need a complete top end from the wrist bearing to the head but none of the kits have a wrist bearing included. It's a 10mm pin/bearing. From what looking around I have done, I see that there are different widths on the wrist bearings. It's confusing. Would you recommend getting a 70cc kit? Please can someone point me to a safe site where they know what they are doing and I can use my credit card and get everything I need in one swoop? Thank you!

Contact Jeremey (enviromoto on this forum). He did have some Polini BBKs around. Not sure if he's still got 'em, but they were a good price. Dunno if he'd have any bearings around. Usually partsforscooters carries the bearings, but they're backordered.

I sent him an e-mail. Usually partsforscooters carries the bearings, but they're back ordered. YEP! And I wouldn't know which one to order anyway because they come in different widths so I guess I'll have to get the piston in hand and measure it before I order a bearing. Thanks again!

I have my whole top end off of my triton sitting in a bag in my basement. I doubt I'll ever use it again. If you need/want it, let me know.

Okay so I got the top end from Reign on Tuesday and today I compared it to my old one and it turns out I can't use the piston cause it's got a 12mm pin and I needed one with a 10mm pin. I should have asked him to measure it. Oh well I still got a good deal on the jug which will work with either pin size so I'm not upset about it. I figured that out because the 12mm piston Reign sent me slid right into my old jug. Okay so on to the questions... Anyone out there got a spare piston and bearing (10mm) ? I saw a link to a bearing a few days back but I can't find it now. It looked like a good bearing. It was an adapter bearing that went from a 12 to a 10. I think that same site sells the straight 10 and 12 bearings too. Anyone know which one I'm talking about? Has anyone ever tried this bearing? There's no measurements dammit! cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290376261289&viewitem=&_trkparms=algo%3DLVI%26its%3DI%26otn%3D2&category=43977Anyone need a slightly used stock 12mm piston CHEAP! ;D

I've tried that 12 to 10mm bearing that you're talking about. It was a no-go on my scooter. Sorry about not asking you which wrist pin you needed. I completely forgot that there were 2 different sizes The rest should all be what you need though. As for that link. it looks like a stock bearing. It should work just fine. Wolfpack is a pretty good seller, I've ordered a few things from him before. Hopefully you can find the piston you need.

Getting a piston is easy. It's making sure I get the right bearing that's the tricky part. Partsforscooters has it listed but it's been out of stock for a while now. I guess they wait for the boat to sail the Pacific then dock and unload. Or maybe they are traveling down the silk road on a rickshaw. www.partsforscooters.com/10mm_wrist_pin_bearing_50cc-2_105-29

Yeah I saw that one. It's too wide. The piston won't fit over it.
