I can't like that comment enough. I think I will go by there here in a bit. I'm just going to get a kit from a shop down the road from them, an authorized Kymco dealer. I can get a no name for 100 or an Airsal for 200. I'm a bit skeptical to put too much into it until I run it some, see if the crank will last. It's got plenty of miles. I'm thinking I'll get the cheap one, then when the time comes I'll get a better quality kit.

Yeah, looking it up, 200 is about 2xs the price of it online...

I used one of those 50mm kits sold on ebay on my daughter's 2007 Kymco Agility. It had a lot of miles on it but the crank was pretty solid. It runs good and has a lot of power. It uses the 64mm head.

The bottom end feels very solid, very little side play in the connector rod, smooth rotation. I ended up buying just the piston and cylinder from the good shop in town. I know I paid quite a bit more than it's sold for, mmg brand, but I feel like I owe it to him. He's always very open to answer my Tech questions and honest so far. I've only bought small things from him and had him put on a few tires. And he also knocked off ten bucks from the sticker price. I'll make sure she runs, start a slow break in. Then I'm going to try to get in touch with one of the eBay sellers that are in my state and see if they'd work a custom package deal for a big valve head, a9 cam, intake, carb, exhaust, and variator. I mean hell, they sell a kit with an exhaust and much more for 180 that I'd probably just slap the cylinder and piston on my taotao if they won't work a deal with me.

Always good to help out local shops. I do the same thing when possible. We had a local scooter shop in town but it packed up and left town because a lot of people got ripped off and word of mouth got around.

I would love to open a shop, as many scooters are around. But I'm a little scared that a few of the guys would get mad and I'd be found strapped to my scooter in the French Broad River lol. Oh yeah, and I'm not really good right yet.

My brother in law took his 2002 Yamaha Zuma there to have a big bore kit installed. He ended up putting a no name pipe on it and charged him $280 for it and a 17.5 mm Dellorto clone which was $100+ dollars. After a few weeks and $1100,it blew up!!! It wasn't because it was not broken in properly either. The guy wouldn't stand behind it. Come to find out the guy was moving his shop from town to town. Probably because of his shady business practices.

Probably because of his shady business practices. Crap pipe throwing back pressure or something? I've never truly blown up a 2t, only cracked am lc head and blew a 4t. Still wet behind the ears, here! Here, there's too many to have a dodgy one. There's two smaller shops, both sell a little performance but are never too enthusiastic to sell it. One sells adly's (one of the new 2ts looks pretty nice) and binelli's. The other is a Kymco dealer, and every so often puts out a VIP Chinese crapper. Then there's the scooter doctor. Not sure what his story is. A guy was a dick to me the first time I walked through doors, so I turned around and never went back. And then there's the Honda dealer and bigger Kawasaki /Kymco dealer. The latter has saved my tail by having a hard to get part actually in stock.

Wiped out a brand new top end because of a lean jet in the carb. Ruined it!!!

Wiped out a brand new top end because of a lean jet in the carb. Ruined it!!! Duh, I just assume that people put in bigger jets with a new exhaust... Just like I assume that people would put oil into an engine after doing a piston job, lol

And here we go, putting her in! I was told the piston was a 50mm, measured at 47mm. Oh well, no need to put any added stress on anything that may have already had it's life shortened. At this point, at least.. .

Torqued and back together, with a fresh coat of high temp on the valve cover! It went together a little too easy for being my first time doing a 4t. We'll see what I didn't do right... Hand turning, everything seems like it should, great compression, timing marks lining up, sounds smooth. Now just to go grab some oil. I decided to drain what I just put back in, it was filthy from the previous. Then, on to the cvt!

It's alive! Somehow it seems to be rich at idle, the best setting so far is almost all the way in. It's a pain to get to the thing, not easy like my super 9. Also, this big bore is a big BORE. It had none of the pow that the malossi kit for the s9 had even during break in. I guess I'm spoiled. And I'm not hitting it hard, trying to break it in easy. Maybe the performance cam and head would help some. I dunno yet. Cvt time

Yeah, once you go 2T you'll never be impressed with 4T. They are literally worlds apart.
