Ugh. Spent all day putting it back together and put oil in the lines and everything. The shimmy thingamajig in the starter bendix has gone missing and it won't engage.
EDIT: On the engine side. I'm pretty sure there's supposed to be something in there because the teeth on the starter won't touch the bendix.

What's the name for that piece I need? Goes in the engine side and holds the bendix.

The brass bushing?

I guess. It's missing. The one on the CVT cover side is fine.

I guess. It's missing. The one on the CVT cover side is fine. Scrappydog has them for 4 dollars. Do you have another cvt cover? they are the same size if you have the cover. And if you do have another cover and you cant get the bushing out? Then pack it with grease and shove the bendix in it and it will force it out. The flat side of an appropriate size drill bit works well too.

Got the bushing and installed it. I did get it to start, but I shut it off to move the throttle cable around since it was stuck a bit above idle. Couldn't get it to start again. I think I'm really hitting the limit of this starter motor.. Anything I can do to help it?

The starter was cranking really weakly then it let out some smoke and stopped, well, starting. Took it apart and the armature really wasn't pretty. The teeth were chewed up too. Got the armature from the old one from my last starter debacle, cleaned it up, and put it in with a bit of grease on the ends. Works just fine now.
With that problem fixed I had a new issue where it refused to do anything when the throttle was opened beyond idle. It'd just die out. Moved the clip on the needle down one position, to the bottom, and jumped up to a 115 main. Runs mostly okay now. Did the break in and man, it pulls good. Oil cooler works just fine too, except I put the lines on wrong and the oil flows backwards through the filter.. I'll fix it when I do the oil change.
Also when I put gas in it after changing the jets I only put in a little bit because I didn't want to have to drain a lot when my fuel valve arrived. I put in too little and ran out when I got to the end of the neighborhood and started turning around. Pushed it halfway then realized I could just shake it around to get a bit more gas down the line and was able to ride it most of the way home. I'm just happy it works.

Okay, so I did an oil change, put in too much, had to drain some out, flipped the filter around, etc. The filter is working well, as you can see it's captured all the crap that was floating around in the oil. Today my new fuel valve arrived, this one, and installed it. Works great, screwed right in place of the petcock and it's got reserve function and everything. Rode it around town a bit, waved to all the motorcycle guys, etc. It runs like shit. Doesn't idle and sputters like a two stroke at low throttle. Pretty unresponsive at all throttle ranges. Tell me which way to go in terms of jets, mainly the pilot jet, cause I dunno. Also, apparently, the wiring harness doesn't like being pressed up against hot oil lines. Who knew. I saw a bit of smoke from the burning rubber sheath thingy that goes over all the wires and I rejiggered the cable management so now none of them are touching the lines. I don't think I damaged any wires, just warped the coating sheath thing over them a bit.

Sputtering like this means too rich right? After the video I dropped the main to a 110 which improved responsiveness and put the stock 150cc pilot back in. Still won't idle.

Sounds rich to me.
Did you try upping the idle jet for your idle issue?

Sounds rich to me. Did you try upping the idle jet for your idle issue? Yup. It's got the stock jet in it and I think it's still too rich, somehow. I'll see if I have a smaller jet.. Also the sputtering is with a little throttle, mid throttle and wot is fine.

Then just try lowering the needle to see if that works.

Then just try lowering the needle to see if that works. Again, 1/4 to wot is fine. No throttle to 1/4 is sputtery and terrible. Isn't that the pilot jet zone? The needle is in the richest setting, it runs better this way than it did in the one above it.
